Great quality/price, but might not be what you're looking for!
A bit of background: I'm a table tennis player who competes on a college team. I've been playing actively for over twelve years now.First of all, these STIGA table tennis balls are amazing for the price. These aren't cheap, flimsy ping pong balls you would use for beer pong; they're made specifically to play table tennis. That means that the diameter measures exactly 40mm in length, and weighs in at around 2.7grams. I've found these balls to be very consistent with balls used in tournaments; they feel exactly the same, which is very important when you're trying to improve and win! Having inconsistency within the balls means you miss your shots, and we can't have that now, can we?However, there is a downside to this product. While the specifications of the ball are both consistent and in-line with tournament standards, the material is not. These balls are made of celluloid, which used to be regulation for any competitive table tennis environment, but has changed recently due to health concerns of working with the material, which is very similar to asbestos in that it can be harmful when inhaled (so this would be a problem for factory workers who work with raw sheets). Newer regulation balls are plastic, and while they still share the same weight and diameter, the play is pretty drastically changed. The newer plastic balls do not spin as much, and bounce very differently from these celluloid balls.Now, these table tennis balls are still amazing quality for the price. I would highly recommend them to anyone that isn't interested in competing or playing on a serious level. But if you're trying to improve your game and maybe play against some more serious players, than these balls aren't for you.
