Excellent lawn sweeper
I thought this sweeper worked very well. It doesn't pick up every little leaf/twig, but it does a really great job of picking up most easily. I read a lot of mediocre reviews for this before I bought it, so I was skeptical, but it's better than many reviewers give it credit for. Make sure to adjust the height correctly. That's the most important thing, and it's very easy to do. You should be able to feel the brushes brushing the ground. You want that to add a little resistance to your pushing but not so much that it's difficult to keep the sweeper moving. Level ground also helps as plenty of other people have mentioned, but it works fine on hills and slightly uneven ground. I disagree that it's only for light jobs. Our house backs up to a wooded area, and we get tons of leaves. But I could raise the sweeper to its largest height and pretty much tackle any pile of leaves. You won't get it in one pass by any means, but go over it a few times, lowering periodically if needed. It'll work. I actually think piles were easier than a large, light spread of leaves. The hopper is plastic and it fills up quickly. I don't get why this is a common complaint. It's a leaf collector. You want to it collect quickly. If it was any larger, it'd be unmanageable. It's a good size for transferring into a trash can/bag. You can fill up the hopper in about a minute, so you will spend most of your time emptying the hopper rather than sweeping. But that doesn't mean the hopper is too small. That's just how fast the sweeper works. As for the plastic durability, I haven't had mine very long at all, but it seems durable enough. It's made out of material like a common tarp, and we're just temporarily holding leaves here. The assembly isn't bad. Set aside an hour and you probably will be done early. The instructions aren't that difficult. You need some basic tools, really just a couple of wrenches. A hammer and needle-nose pliers will make your life much easier on the palnuts. This sweeper doesn't 100% pick up everything or eliminate the need to own a rake. In fact, it really works best if you rake leaves into little piles or rows that you can sweep over. My wife raked into rows that I swept over and we finished both of our seriously neglected, leaf-covered, not entirely level lawns in about 2 hours. That was 6 completely full 39 gallon trash bags of leaves. That would have been an all day project before. Clearing your lawn still takes some work, but this provides a massive reduction in the amount of that work. And it really doesn't take a ton of storage space when you're finished with it. It's easy to use and very effective. I highly recommend this product.

and its favorite mission: into my pool
Ok I have a leaf problem. Basically imagine the largest Oak tree you can, and that beast's job this time of year is dropping tons of leaves and acorns on my yard, on my house, and its favorite mission: into my pool. I about killed myself with the blowing, raking, picking up and putting in the garbage can. (Here in Dallas we don't as of yet have yard waste disposal and I haven't been crafty enough to build a com-poster. Even if I were to build a com-poster, no way it would be able to deal with the massive volume of leaves my behemoth Oak taunts me with on a daily basis. I don't currently own a lawnmower,; I'm a recent transplant from California where I believe it's illegal to cut one's own lawn - we have always had yard service. Here in Dallas I think I have a yard guy, but I haven't seen him for about 3 months. Lawnmower is going to be next, but I wasn't ready for that major step as of yet - so after a couple glasses of wine I was "Priming" and today the Agri-Fab showed up on my front porch (along with a ton of other stuff - including a dozen or so iPhone charger cables - how do I go through so many of those?) The box is a little intimidating - you know, "Some assembly required." I'm at least a junior varsity home improvement guy and have a fairly respectable set of tools. Assembly took maybe 25 minutes and was pretty straight forward. Instructions were in English, and they had pictures. (The best part.) I assembled the Agri-Fab and took it outside for a test drive. The first key is setting the level of the bushes to the proper height. Too low and the sweeper will get bogged down, too high and it won't pick up anything. Once you get the sweet spot it actually does a pretty good job. I would wear eye protection the next time I do this. Also if your yard work includes a beer (like mine usually does) be careful because this little bastard really kicks up the debris up into the basket. Some hit me in the chest (gut) and I did have some beer penetration. Here is the good: Beats the crap out of blowing/raking. Hands down. I filled up a large garbage can in about 10 minutes and didn't have to bend all the way over like you do with the whole rake, pile, pick up maneuver. Here is the "could be better." That bag is pretty small and fills up quickly. disconnecting the bag from the sweeper thing to dump it could be easier. There are two elastic pieces that connect to hooks on the handle that are the most annoying - I ended up not connecting them on subsequent cycles. It's not the most heavy duty piece of equipment - pretty much what you would expect from a post-wine Amazon order. I think it will hold up ok. It bogs down with heavy lawn debris - that is to be expected. My yard basically has debris stalagmites. I worked out a technique of tilting and going back and forth at times. So am I happy with the Agra-Fab? Yeah, I would say so. It's not perfect, but it sure beats raking. It picked up some of my acorns - maybe if I get all the leaves up I can lower it down farther and let it try the acorns again. I'm not picking up acorns by hand again. I filled up a Home-Depot bucket with acorns by hand a few weeks ago and did such a number on my hamstrings I could barely walk for the better part of a week. Not doing that again. Hope this helps! Good luck.

UPDATE: It literally fell apart after 5 MINUTES. DO-NOT-BUY.
Update: I just used this rickety-, poorly manufactured product, hoping that even though they sent me the wrong fasteners, my hacks with washers would help provide the stability needed. Wrong. The brushes fell off within five minutes of use; they couldn't withstand the force of the leaves. Did it pick up leaves? Sure. Was the amount of leaves it picked up impressive? Absolutely. But that doesn't mean a thing if the whole product falls apart within five minutes! I'm contacting them and requesting the correct fasteners. If those are the correct ones? Guess what, DIYers, you're gonna HATE this product. Because I can't imagine how you can tighten them because you'd have to hold on to one fastener while screwing the other in and really you'd have to clamp it down to make it work. The point is it's just an awful DIY assembling experience. AVOID THIS LIKE THE PLAGUE. I'm a strong 40-year-old man and can't assemble these thing to save my life. The printed instructions are impossible to understand. The fasteners provided are the WRONG ones; it's impossible to tighten them. Everything is loose. I've worked for at least two hours on this thing and even added my own washers because the fasteners simply DON'T tighten. My first impression is this is a garbage product. And I've bought made-to-assemble stuff for almost two decades so it's not like I can't put together something from a box. It's just big, difficult to asssemble, nothing tightens and I'm close to throwing the whole thing in the trash because I don't typicaly box things up and return them. I realize that sounds short-shighted but it's that frustrating to put something like this together when the fasteners do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT work. The fasteners are simply too big for certain portions of the handles. Everything is off. Ugh this is just awful. I'm literally taking a break and writing this review just to avoid trying to assemble this for a fourth time. Insert curse word here.

Cheaply made, over-priced, marginally effective way to get a workout
There is absolutely no way that the materials for this cost the company more than $15. The plastic is cheap. The endcaps are poorly fitting and fall off the rods. The metal holding the brushes rusts within weeks. With that said, I bought this to pick up black walnuts from a tree in our backyard that ruin our lawn. Raking them doesn't work well, leaf blowers don't work well, and picking them up by hand takes forever. This device is... ok... for getting them up. It's important to set expectations, though: 1) The grass has to be mowed to the lowest setting. This may kill your yard. Good luck. If the grass is too long, the brushes won't pick much up and it'll be about 300% more difficult to push the sweeper. 2) The sweeper brushes have to be set to the right depth. Too high and you'll pick up nothing; too low and you'll get bogged down within 3 feet and physically will not be able to push the sweeper farther. 3) You have to get up some speed. The only way this works is if you sweep your yard like a linebacker at football practice. Use the momentum. Don't give your sweeper a chance to get bogged down. 4) Reconcile yourself to the fact that when you are doing absolutely everything right, you might get 50% of the walnuts up from the ground into the bin at each pass. Go back around from a different angle and you'll get 50% of the remainder. Repeat. Zeno's paradox tells you you'll never get them all, and that's true, but after 3 or 4 passes you've gotten enough walnuts up to feel proud of your efforts. You'll also be gasping for air and need a shower. 5) It seems to work better for freshly fallen twigs and leaves, so I may be a particularly challenging target market. If all that sounds good to you, it's the best tool I've found for picking up walnuts. But that's not saying a lot, and I would happily spend twice as much on a quality product made with quality materials that doesn't take 4 passes and won't make me pull a groin muscle running around my yard like an angry toddler with a toy pushcart.

Why didn't I meet you sooner?
Ok, so you want a earth-friendly, effective and fun way to keep your lawn tidy? This is the answer! I really didn't know such device existed, but I knew someone somewhere had invented an alternative to ear-deafening, gas guzzling, and heavy leaf-blowers. To be frank, I was a bit skeptical as to how well the Lawn Sweeper might work--would it jam at the first hurdle? would it fall apart (it looked a little flimsy on the photos) as it made it's way up and down my 20 degree sloped yard? would it actually gather the leaves or simply throw them all over the place only to do the job again with a rake? Well, none of this happened. It is truly an elegant design. If you set the height of the brush right, you should be able to effortlessly cover about 2,000 sq feet in 20 minutes (assuming your yard is fairly even)---that's about 100 sq feet per minute at a moderatly brisk pace (i.e. about 2 normal steps per second). It's also a good exercise and the leaves fall rather aimfully into the basket. The first time I used it I had already mowed my lawn, so many hand-sized leaves were reduced to about finger-sized leaves. While one might suspect the task to be more difficult, it actually reduced the number of trips I had to make to empty the basket (I guess the pre-mowing actually reduced the volume of space a larger leaf occupies vs. a shredded one). For this reason, I would recommend waiting a few days after the leaves fall and let them shrink a bit. Some of the other reviewers complained that the basket could have been bigger or deeper so they wouldn't have to empty so often. I sort of agree, yet in paying attention to this and thinking about how the design could be improved, I came up short. I guess the designers really had to wrestle among trade-offs in: basket size, clearance of shooting range, weight and cost. Oh well. However, the long metal rod that holds the bottom of the bag to the device could use some improvements. The rubber stoppers are not very helpful (they keep coming off when I take off the bag), but other than that it's a nice, light and inexpensive piece of equipment that belongs in every garage in America. Finally, don't expect your post-labor lawn to be leaf-free. It will miss a few spots, much in the way a vacuum cleaner never does a great job on the first passing. But if you're not much of a perfectionist, it should make your yard the envy of the block in half the time it took "Larry the leaf-blower" do his. Oh, the assembly is a piece of cake. If you've assembled IKEA furniture, it's more or less the same degree of difficulty. Happy Sweepin'.

Put your kids to WORK!!!!
Works like a champ!!! see pictures Assembly less than 10 minutes, depending on who is in a grumpy mood. Made 4 passes in one picture and one pass in the other. The single pass was up even ground and the bag was full. Had the bag been less full it would have picked up more leafs. The first picture I made 4 total passes, and that filled up the bag. But 4 may have been over exuberance on my part, as 1 pass did an adequate job. The catcher bag is a good size for it. Any bigger people would complain its to cumbersome. ITs easy to remove without dropping leaves and empties easily. The material of the bag seems like it'll wear quickly if you leave it outside in the sun and rain...so do not do that. but if it does tear or rip......duct tape will fix that up real quick. Construction of it feels stout but its not heavy at all. Easy to push and doesn't fling leafs in you face if you push sprinting pace. Adjustable brush height is handy if you got big leaves and don't want to touch your grass for some weird crazy person reason. If you edge you lawn the brush gets low enough that you can use the sweeper instead of a blower or broom....and that helps me drink beer! Works best on even ground, but if the first pass doesn't get it the second one will Even picked up a rock or two. 5 stars is more than appropriate for this. If you read a review of someone complaining about the catcher size........pity the fool Overall its DA BOMB! a good buy in my opinion. Much better than your mower and better than the raking your kids will hate.

Better than expected results on a lumpy yard. Less time raking leaves is a major win in my book!
The Agri-Fab sweeper arrived this afternoon with enough time to assemble and take for a test drive. Assembly was straight forward and my only complaint (hence 4 stars) was the fact that the assembly hardware was just loose in the box (see pic). In my opinion it should have been bagged. Had there been a hole in the box who know what would have fallen out. Thankfully all parts were accounted for and assembly took only about 15min. Tested on a lightly leafed section of yard. Took a few tries to get the brush height correct but once set it was easy to push and picked up the majority of leaves. Moved to a section heavily covered and it got about 1/2 the leaves. A second pass cleaned it up about 85%. My yard is incredibly lumpy (thanks to moles) and the grass height varies from approx 3-4" down to moss. The brushes are stiff enough to knock loose moss and high spots of dirt. It became difficult to push not as a fault of the product but because of dips and peaks in my lawn. This would be awesome on a flat, even lawn... But who actually has that!? With care it works well on my lumpy Maine mixed terrain. As others have noted, when working on a slope go straight up and down. Going across the slope allows leaves to fly out on the lower side. Dropping the brushes down lower also picked up some (but not all) acorns, sticks and some rocks. Overall I think this a great product and will help me achieve my rake-free Fall goal this year.

Eh, it's not very effective
I have a mature lot with many trees. Some drop nuts, so I was interested in the reviews that indicate this lawn sweeper not only works well on leaves but manages to pick up nuts. I have to say I'm not "nuts" about the results. It did an adequate job on leaves, but that's about it. Couple issues: It's not sturdy. Except for the axle between the wheels, the brush housing is entirely plastic and the thin metal handle attaches to the plastic housing directly. No mettle frame. So if the brushes meet any resistance the whole thing tends to start to twist. You are supposed to adjust the brush height to just barely below the tips of the grass, but unless your lawn is perfectly flat (Never seen one yet), that's impossible to do and you end up having to adjust the brush height repeatedly or you bog down every few feet. I mean you literally come to a complete stop because the brushes that were spinning so well a second before are now unable to handle the slightly deeper grass where you are. BTW I mowed a day before using this, so it's not like the grass was overgrown. If you'll watch the product video, you'll notice it doesn't seem to leave the lawn very clean. Wish I had paid more attention prior to ordering. So, if you don't mind making SEVERAL passes to clean your yard, and constantly stopping to adjust the brush height on your imperfect lawn, this little sweeper will pick up most (no where near all) of your leaves. All in all, a lot of effort for very little benefit. I ended up grabbing my rake to finish the job. For 200 bucks I expected more.

A dream come true!!!
Oh my gosh, I can't rave enough about this lawn sweeper, I bought it for my 71 year old mother who insists on raking her own leaves every fall. I bought her a leaf blower but the bag is so heavy she always has a sore back after using it. I thought I'd try this sweeper just to see but didn't have a lot of hope and WOW, it's pretty easy to put together and it works like a dream, glides easily across the lawn and picks up all the leaves, she is so thrilled.
