Great build quality
Most of this type of furniture I find disappointing, but was pleasantly surprised with this unit. The build quality is top-notch compared to most laminate-wrapped particleboard furniture. As the price and style indicate, this isn't heirloom quality, but it is well made, goes together easily, and looks good. The price seems pretty reasonable. Assembly took a little under an hour by myself. The best bit of assembly advice is to drill pilot holes for nailing the backer boards on. The nails themselves are sort of cheap and bend easily, but there are lots of them. I also laid it down to attach the backer boards instead of standing it up as the instructions stated. Since kiddos aren't a concern here and it is sitting on tile, I did not attach the anchors. It seems quite stable without them, and I'll be adding more books to the bottom shelf. The unit I received did not have any of the issues some others have reported. No scratches, missing parts, etc. I think it looks good and I'm happy to have my CDs out again.

These shelves look and work great!
These shelves are amazing. I put them together by myself in less than an hour--followed the instructions exactly and had no issues whatsoever. They were super sturdy even without the interior shelves in, and once fully put together, were even more solid. They were dirty, but I just wiped every piece with a wet rag as I unboxed them. There were no scratches or other defects. And they hold a TON. I was able to replace 2 other shelves with room to spare, and have about 400 dvds and blu rays with room for at least another 50 or so, plus a shorter shelf of boxed sets and other miscellany. The smell was strong, as others have mentioned, so that is the only downside. It's lessened after two days of airing out, but I'm still waiting for it to subside. Otherwise, I'd give these 10 stars if I could!

Overall very satisfied, some issues with installing the back
Overall this has worked out perfectly. Quite easy to assemble (except for installing the back). Overall quality and fit and finish is good (mine is black). Shelves fit very well and have concave slots to hold them in place on the shelf support pins (nice touch). I think this definitely worth the price and I am very happy with the finished result. A one star demerit for minor problems I had with installing the back (see below). RE the back panel: The back panel is three separate pieces, each with a fold in the middle held together by tape. One of the pieces in my kit had the tape improperly applied so it could not be fully folded flat. I fixed this by removing the factory tape and replacing it with good ole duct tape. A couple of other tips for installing the back. Temporarily install the center shelves (as recommended, to keep the structure square) but place the cabinet face down (not vertical as the instructions say) on a carpeted surface. Also, predrill the holes for the nails rather than trying to just pound them in place. That way you can accurately control where they are going. This is important, especially for the nails that go into the center two vertical shelf supports (it's really easy to miss the support and have the nails protrude into the shelf space). When pre drilling you can angle the nails so that they are directed toward the shelf supports rather than going straight down. In my kit there were an insufficient quantity of nails and I had to supplement them with some I had on hand to match the recommended nail placement shown in the instructions. It is important to fasten the top of the cabinet securely to the wall. When fully loaded with CD's it is quite top heavy. I did not use the single fasten point method recommended in the instructions. Instead I installed a 36" long 1x2 to the wall with 3" screws fastened into two studs (16" stud spacing) and installed two eye screws (spaced to align with center shelf supports on the cabinet). I also installed eye screws on the center shelf supports. I placed a spacer block between the wall and the top of the cabinet back and used heavy duty tie wraps to pull the top of the cabinet firmly against the spacer. Very secure and no chance of falling over.

Beautiful and Sturdy.
Nice and sturdy. Yes you are suggested to wall anchor the cabinet. I chose not to for is against the wall. I don't expect my dvd's to fall forward. It off gassed after about 36 hours. Fairly easy instructions. Once you get the base screws tightened, it's easy. I only mentioned this for the screws hold very well. Great cabinet!

Store a lot of DVDs
I almost gave it 4 stars because of unusable DVD storage space (top or bottom choice), unless you lay them down sideways. I got 447 into this cabinet, I'd say that makes it pretty functional; that allowed me to discard 3 mismatched DVD racks. But it's still better than the wasted space in the cabinets on either side of it. The shelf pegs are a lot more secure in the new cabinet than the taller ones; it's frustrating when you accidentally bump a shelf while pulling out a DVD, one of the upper pegs jumps out & you have to catch the contents before they're dumped on the floor. The pegs in the new cabinet are much better & the spacing is more flexible, allowing for maximum DVD storage. I do wish it were taller though. The instructions were simple; so was the assembly. The only problem with the assembly was putting on the backboard. That was a pain. Also, fresh out of the box, a couple of the exposed surfaces on the front were scratched; not good for a brand new product. Overall, I think I'll buy a another one, the two together will cover that back wall and all my DVD s would be in similar cabinets instead of 6 different kinds. Sorry it’s not a clean photo, maybe I’ll add one later. I finished moving, assembly & restocking last night; cleanup will be done later today. I'm moving towards turning that into a Media Room.

This is the second Prepac CD shelving unit I've purchased. They look great and are super sturdy. We've taken our CDs out of jewel cases and have put them into custom poly slip sleeves so, you can fit up to 3,000 CDs, and the unit can handle it easily. (900 regular jewel case CDs). Recommended.

Came well packed. Setup was easy and fast. Took about 20-min to put together. Very nice look. Holds my BluRays, CD's, DVD's, VHS and Cassette tapes. Going to need another soon. Very nice and worth the money.

This went together with no problems. The colour was close to what we expected and the overall appearance looks very nice in our room. The adjustable shelves was great for different sizes of our music library. We would not hesitate to order this again. The delivery was quite slow and beyond what was anticipated. Once I contacted the store where this item was being shipped from and enquired if there was a problem, the storage unit was delivered later that day.
