Yes it does what you asked. However, if password protected you have to enter password.

How many cards can it hold?

I thought it could hold cards like a similar case I had for my S10, but it really could not hold any.

How well do the side buttons work?

They work fine but if it's anymore that 20$ don't waste your money. The cover doesn't stay closed. And the led goes off about 5 seconds after you close the cover.
