Rock solid switch with 1 annoying quirck
So as a small managed switch goes, this sucker has been absolutely fantastic. Setup was a breeze. I'm running the Unifi controller on a Raspberry Pi 2. The 4 PoE switch ports are an absolute must have when using Unifi's access points. It makes installation so, so much easier. The only thing you need to run is an ethernet cable to the AP and use a PoE port on this switch to power it. Thankfully all of Ubiquiti's new hardware is 802.3af compliant (rather than Ubiquiti's proprietary passive 24V "PoE"). Just make sure you know what flavor of PoE your Unifi hardware needs before powering up the ports. Each PoE port has a dedicated LED to show the PoE status. Red = PoE on. Off = PoE off. That's a nice feature to have. The only downside to this switch is the locations of power in and the LEDs. The power jack is on the opposite side of the network ports, and the LEDs sit on the top, right over the network ports. This arrangement makes sense on a rack mount switch. You want the ports and LEDs on the front, where they're easily accessible and power on the back. But this switch isn't intended for rack mounting. This is going to wind up on (or under) a desk, or stuffed in a closet, basically anywhere other than a 19" rack. It would make more sense to have the LEDs on the "front" of the unit and all of the cabling (including power) on the "rear".Don't get me wrong, this is the best (IMO) managed switch you can get in the price range, and Unifi makes the best prosumer networking gear around. Ubiquiti still can't compare with the big players in the enterprise market, but they absolutely NAIL the price / performance in the home / small / medium business market.Anyways, the core hardware on this switch is great. I wish the physical layout was better.

Ubiquiti is where it is AT!
I have two of the 8 port switches, 2 24 port ones, USG pro, and 2 AP Pros too so I'm invested into Ubiquiti Unifi products. I used to have Netgear Nighthawk, Netgear Mesh, and Modem too. I'm sure it was partly Comcast's fault, but Netgear didn't help either. Switched internet companies and also switched to an Edge router and then finally all in with Unifi. Always rebooting with the Netgear products. Now I have been up for months without any downtime except to upgrade the firmware on occasion (Which I can do remotely when I'm not home!). SUPER RELIABLE!!! GREAT SPEEDS! My home network is basically a small business with over 40+ clients and Ubiquiti products don't blink. I like to play some with my tech, but I also want it to just work these do that job!

Nice Functional PoE Switch but gets very hot
I like Unifi / Ubiquity equipment as it is consistently good value for the money and once you are "signed up" for their ecosystem, it is a no brainer to use their switches. The switch is sturdy and works surprisingly better than the non-PoE Netgear 8 port switch it replaced. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it gets very hot (even without using PoE). Hot as in too hot to touch.

Great for any SOHO
This switch is easy to set up and manage. I love the Unifi Cloud management system. This has close to the same look and feels like an enterprise-grade switch in my opinion. One thing to note is you are a MAC user. The MAC mini will not connect until you enable Flow Control. I have run into this with other managed switches. Once you turn it on, everything works fine.

It was pleasantly surprised.
I was skeptical about the whole Ubiquiti Unifi line, in particular, the need for a controller. I had some experience with their WAPs, so I decided to try out one of their switches. In my case, I needed a small managed POE capable switch to hide underneath my desk. I needed something to break out multiple VLANs. Instead of springing for a more expensive Cisco, Dell, etc., I sprung for this little guy. I've only been using it for a few days, but I'm impressed. Setup was a breeze through the controller, while still giving me the control I needed for each individual port. Nicely done, Ubiquiti.

Great 8-Port Switch
Unifi's Managed PoE switches are the best! They are simple to configure and robust in their capabilities. The only issue is that only 4 of the ports are PoE and I don't believe that Ubiquiti sells a switch with all 8 ports managed. So I prefer the 24 port version.

Managed desktop switch with PoE capabilities.
The Unifi software for managing these is a delight. As long as you can live with what it offers, it provides a very flexible environment and at the price point of an unmanaged switch, you get management and PoE.

Only works for a month
Worked great for the length of the return policy then immediately stopped working.
