Fun project that worked as advertised.
My 7 year old son and I spent a couple of hours playing with these shrinky dinks. He enjoyed coloring in all of the animals and I colored in the flowers. He was amazed at how they shrunk in the oven and loved watching them curl up and then flatten in a smaller but thicker form. After several successful shrinky dinks, he became for creative and used markers (instead of the provided pencils) to color in the shapes. He also wrote small messages. So far, we played with this kit 2 times for several hours each. The kit comes with many shrinky dinks so we still have the ability to play with it again. My son was only interested in coloring and shrinking. He didn't make any of the jewelry. I strung one shrinky dink on the provided string and it seemed quite flimsy. I quickly abandoned the project as I didn't know anyone who would wear the jewelry even if it looked great. All and all a fun project to do with your little ones. Since purchasing this kit, I did buy a plain sheet of shrinky dink paper. We enjoyed the precut designs this kit offered, but wanted to do our own creations as well. This kit does not allow for creating your own design (although you can create your own color schemes).

Dinks Deserve a Toast
At first, I was going to go with a much more expensive set, until I saw that this product was sporting the official "Shrinky Dinks" logo. As soon as I saw that, I was in. Price is very affordable. No cutting, just coloring. No rules about using only the included pencils, but I have not experimented with our own as of yet. You get a good amount of everything to make stuff- beads, barrettes, hoops, adhesive dots, elastic string which I think we had trouble tying, and eight pencils in bright colors. Instructions are included, and there are even video ones if you need 'em. Just be patient when baking- as soon as they lie completely flat, they are done. I bake ours on a piece of foil on the cookie sheet, then save the sheet for next time. Everything can fit in a sandwich Baggie. Timeless fun.

Still fun to watch 'em shrink
Shrinky Dinks were the coolest things ever when I was a kid, so I decided to share them with my 5 and 7 year olds. Watching them curl up and melt in the oven is a childhood right of passage akin to building with Legos and cooking cruddy muffins in an easy bake oven. Every child should get the chance to do it at least once.Luckily, Shrinky Dinks have have only gotten better over time (unlike easy bake.) When I was a kid, you drew your own picture and then painstakingly cut it out, doing your best not to make jagged edges. If you wanted a key chain, you had to dig out a hole punch. (Do they still make hole punches?) This kit has done all the hard work for you, so you can sit back and color, without having to worry about making the hole the right size to string on a necklace or earrings. My kids love it, and if I'm being honest, so do I. It's so much fun!So why the 4 stars rather than 5?Well, it's the hoops for the earrings. They are cheap and frankly, I wouldn't wear them, let alone allow my daughter to. But really, that's only a minor drawback. This is a great set, and we love giving it as a gift, after having so much fun with it ourselves. :)

They're very cheap and a lot of fun! I purchased this jewelry set along with http
You remember Shrinky Dinks. Don't you? Of course, you do. These things have been around for years and there is a reason for that. They're very cheap and a lot of fun! I purchased this jewelry set along withhttp://amzn.to/1AMroXRlast year for Christmas. They both made a nice and cheap gifts that put big smiles on my daughter's face. However, when the boxes were open, the Shrinky Dinks jewelry set got used 10x more often than that other 'Infinity set'. My girls had way more fun making, baking and wearing the crafts from the Shrinky Dinks jewelry set. And after a 6 months, I don't think I've seen any items leftover from that fancy 'Infinity' set. On the other hand, the Shrinky dinks necklaces still get worn and I'm getting birthday requests for more.Even for older girls, this one should be a no-brainer. Shrinky Dinks are fun and your kids will have fun crafting them. Just like you did when you were little.

the reply was "Well one like crafting and the other one like baking"
When I asked what the twins might want for their birthdays, the reply was "Well one like crafting and the other one like baking". I immediately thought back to my childhood and Shrinky Dinks! Did they still exist? Heck yes, so I bought tons of them.I also bought the oven to go with it, so it was no stop baking, and watching them shrink. They were amazed every single time.My 5 yr old nieces loved them! My 5 yr old nephew loved them. My 6 yr old nephew loved them! and the 7 yr old neighbor girl loved them too! Everyone was engrossed in the Shrinky Dinks. We were all sitting on the dock, next to a beautiful lake, on a gorgeous day, playing Shrinky dink nation. Gotta love that. Great fun, for cheap. You can't go wrong with these.

Not enough string
Love the craft and it's easy to figure out. The little charms turn out they way they are supposed to if you follow the directions. My 6 yr old had fun making items. Only issue was the amount of string it comes with also not that durable. I went to the craft store to buy more.

Fun craft for a rainy day!
I purchased these to make with my nieces on a rainy day. The girls are ages 3 and 5. The five year old loved them! She was able to be creative and make fun jewelry that she could wear. The three year old made one and then lost interest.Be aware: this kit comes with small beads. You will be finding these beads everywhere months after making this craft. Also, the string is elastic but not durable. We broke many bracelets (hence the beads being everywhere). Also, this kit only has precut pieces. You cannot draw your own shrinky dinks. I recommend buying blank sheets to inspire more creativity.Overall- this was a fun craft and exactly as I remember back when I was a kid. Super fun!
