Fountain pen friendly!
Purchased based on performance of another Rhodia dot pad that I use exclusively for testing inks and pens. I wanted a larger sized notebook for creative writing, and thankfully it's the same paper, because this stuff handles wet ink like a champ. I haven't experienced bleed through, even with a wet calligraphy dip pen, and despite the bright white paper, I'm not seeing any problems with ghosting Unlike some other buyers, mine arrived safely factory wrapped with no cover damage or warping. The size is substantial and gives you a generous layout area to create on. I can see myself buying more of these as needed. I tend to stick to what I know works, and this one is sublime.

Rhodia vs. Moleskin
I think I love Rhodia more than is reasonable for paper products. I was lead to the Rhodia camp, away from my previously intractable allegiance to the very popular Moleskine (which has its advantages, for sure--more on that later) by my old-fashioned friends who prefer fountain pens to regular pens. The paper Rhodia makes, particular in these notebooks, is exceptionally well-suited to "grip" and really broadcast the subtlety in fountain pen inks. I have tried most Lamy inks in these notebooks, including blues, blacks, and purples, and they have great shading and consistent shine in the Rhodia, without seeping through. I think Moleskine was intended for graphite, or regular pens, despite their being the self-declared successor to those notebooks used by legendary artists. Fountain pens and Rhodia belong together. BUT WAIT. THERE's MORE. I really like that these notebooks have sturdy, but flexible spines, so that you can bend them backwards and not have to worry about staples flying out, but it will still lie flat on a desk. Because I take notebooks everywhere, this one takes quite a bit of abuse and is holding up nicely, not even discoloring around the edges or on the spine. The cover is a bit shinier than it appears in the Amazon picture, but not enough to be obnoxious. I also have the 200-page Rhodia, and the notepad, but these somewhat shorter (96 pages) and slimmer notebooks are my favorite for conferences, seminars, and lab note-taking. Overall, a great product for the paper/pen hobbyist, and for general use!

An A5 size wonder! Pen & ink and water based markers' friend. 👍😁
If you read the header, that says it all. This paper takes most pens, inks, water based markers, even paint markers in many cases with no bleed through, show through, or ghosting. Also most of these items don't feather or skip much on this paper. One will probably notice that the lines of their mediums appear thinner on this paper. That's because of its special coating. It takes pencil and dry mediums well too. I wouldn't expect to get a lot of layers with dry mediums. But one can use some mixed media. It takes erasing pretty well. I've had no issues with my pens and markers, gel inks, highlighters, liquid inks, correction fluids etc. They all interact nicely with this paper. I'd say the only things that'd cause issues are alcohol inks and markers and the heaviest juiciest inks and mediums. This is another variation of the popular A5 notebooks people drool over. It's sturdy yet flexible. The protective cover is nice. It looks great and feels great in the hands. I highly recommend Rhodia products to journalists, artists anyone. 😀

Rhodia Slim Staple-bound Notebook
Rhodia Slim Staplebound Notebook I like to take notes, draw diagrams and create checklists. This small Rhodia notebook is perfect for me. It’s sturdy, has a water-proof cover and high quality graph paper. There is minimal to no bleed through with fountain pens or gel inks. The size fits easily in a shirt pocket so I can take it along to meetings or the hardware store without hassle. It is staple bound and has proved to be sturdy under normal conditions. I add a ribbon marker attached to the staple on mine to have a permanent bookmark to easily access pages I am using currently, or sometimes a paper clip. It may be a little pricey, but like I said, I like to take notes and this is the best small notebook I’ve found. Graph paper with 48 sheets 3 x 4 3/4 in. Black cover

a good little notebook
I always carry a notebook similar to this and so appreciate the tough plastic cover, but I suspect the binding staple(s) may give out at some point. It appears to be just hanging on for dear life, but so far it has been an intrepid little staple. The quality of paper, while good, does not seem to be the same paper as in the Rhodia pads. And the printing of the lines in the graph is not as crisp on the examples I received. This is a little too small for my preference, so I will go back to using the Field Notes notebooks, which I highly recommend, but this may work for you if the Field Notes are too big or you need the plastic cover.

Smaller Version of Field Notes - Same Quality
I purchased this for an EDC notebook along with a Zebra SL-F1 Mini Ballpoint Pen. I could not be happier with the duo. I keep the notebook in my back pocket and the pen in my change pocket. What I like most about this notebook is that it is smaller than a typical pocket notebook. Field Notes are 3.5" x 5.5" and this is 3" x 4.75", which if you are using this to jot down notes is plenty big. Other than that I imagine this to be the same quality as Field Notes, the gold standard. It has a durable yet pliable outer cover, it is made out of a nice plastic that is plenty strong, yet bendable, allowing the notebook to form easily in your back pocket. It has grid paper. Makes it very simple to draw up scaled sketches quickly. And finally, the paper quality is excellent.

The paper takes my fountain pen ink beautifully. Love these classic notebooks. And these are A4 - I noticed an incorrect response in the Q & A section.
