Bob Dylan: MTV Unplugged [DVD] [2004]

I can remember seeing this when it was first shown on tv, but when I brought the cd I found out that 3-songs had been cut from the tv version. So it's good to have this dvd version which contains all songs featured on the cd. It's good to see this again, Dylans voice is strong and cutting and the musicians with him are brilliant, and all in very good quality, a must for any Dylan fan.

Since Dylan switched to rock music, back when Adam was a boy, his live perfomances have always been - shall we say- somewhat variable. By his albeit limited standards, this live session should be regarded as a masterpiece, IMO. His live arrangements have often been inferior to the original product, but in this case they really do add something to the songs. I especially liked "Dignity". There are three numbers from my favourite album "Highway 61 Revisited" and they are all stunners. Mercifully, at this period in time, he had hardly begun his annoying habit of rushing out the words of each line in advance of the music, so it not too irksome. His voice still had that cutting edge about it at that period and his backing band, as always, is marvellous, as is the quality of production and recording. the Dolby 5.1 is excellent. I was amazed to see that Bob actually paid some attention to the audience, although he is clearly uncomfortable doing so. It seems that he is not a people person, but who cares. It is his music that counts. I am so glad I bought this DVD and I recommend it to any Dylan fan.

I purchased Like a Rolling Stone back in 1964 when i was 18. Then i heard a track off the Tempest album in of all places a Kathmandu market stall 2012. What have I missed, this DVD makes up for some of it. Since 2012 have managed to see Dylan 4 times but seriously regret not seeing him live 30/40 years ago. Just love all these songs and the new arrangements, can't stop playing it.

I bought this to replace the VCR version. The sound and visuals are very clear and this concert shows Dylan at his best, with some excellent backing. The CD starts of with an up-beat version of Tombstone Blues which is a great opening number to lay the foundation for some of Dylan's best numbers, including All Along The Watchtower, John Brown, Desolation Row and Like a Rolling Stone. I've heard a few of the MTV Unplugged Concerts, all of which are excellent, but this is one of the best.

I'm not a great fan of Bob Dylan but I am a music lover who enjoys several of the cover versions of his songs. This was an "impulse" buy and I'm glad that I bought the DVD. RECOMMENDED

Excellent unplugged performance from Bob Dylan. It's up there with the likes of Eric Clapton's MTV Unplugged set. Well worth a buy!

This was a beyond awesome show. I've read alot of bad reviews, and you have to really be into Dylan's music and lyrics. Understanding his music is the key. I did research and found out that his best buddy is Tom Petty and the sun glasses Bob wears on stange are from a Roy Orbison gift when he passed on. I recommend this to anyone that is into Dylan's lyrics. Make sure it's played with a good sound system, very good acustic music. My favorite is "Dignity" Great show, Thank you Bob Dylan and I'll cya in Vegas. Not bad for a old man like me. I'd like to find a Petty acustic concert DVD, no luck yet. I'm gonna go watch it again and play along, DYLAN is the MAN !!!!

With 5.1 Dolby digital the music is great. Not much say about because it's Bob Dylan.
