The Luger (Weapon, 64)

Iconic weapon with a surprisingly long operational history...
The semi-automatic pistol that became known as the Lugar went into production as early as 1900. It served the German Army in the First and Second World War. It had a long afterlife on active service with France, Norway, and other countries, along with a variety of non-state actors. It remains one of those iconic weapons, instantly recognizable, for example, to fans of a variety of World War II movies.Author Neil Grant provides the history of the Lugar and its many variants, including a version with a stock that was a precursor to the submachine gun. The operational history of the Lugar may be of particular interest to the general reader. Nothing succeeds like a useful weapon, and this Osprey Weapon Series book has the details, backed by technical specifications, details of weapons trials, photographs, and illustrations. This reviewer was particularly interested in the author's comparison of the Lugar with its World War I and II principal competitors. Well recommended.

It's information was well received. The facts
The facts given were NOT a jumbled, confusing mess. It covered what I needed it to cover.

excellent book for Luger fans
Well-written book by a British author. Aside for understandable britishisms, this legendary German pistol history and mechanics are very well described. Must have

Una vista muy superficial.
Siendo un elemento de tanta importancia en la historia de las armas de puño, junto con otras muy pocas, la reseña del libro está muy por debajo de las expectativas que en lo personal yo tenía.

Luger light
Reasonable book but quite thin. Would have liked to have seen more on the mechanics and function of the Luger as it is so unique. Just one cut away.
