Great chalk pencil for sewing and easy to use
I love this chalk pencil for sewing and creating my straight lines. I've purchased so many pencils and they are horrible so this was the best purchase. No more breaking lead and it actually works beautifully!!! Will only buy chalk pens for sewing. I just made some microwave bowls and needed the center fabric and it was so easy!!!

Some issues
The roller that dispenses the chalk only turns one way unless I turn it upside down and tap it on the table. It really isn't as efficient as a pencil or tailors chalk.

Not Good For Formal Fabrics
I've had a great deal of trouble finding a decent marking method for sewing. I usually use the fine-tipped purple fabric pens that fade over a few days. There are times, however, when the purple pen isn't appropriate. On formal fabrics, for example, it doesn't always fade quickly enough, and you really can't spritz silk taffeta with water to remove the marks. And for my students, those pens aren't any good, because the marks will have faded by the time they return for their next weekly class. I usually have them use the blue fabric pens instead, which must be rinsed out with water, but they tend to be rather pale, as if the pens are half dried-out. And again, sometimes you want to use fabrics that can't get wet. Chalk pencils would be great, except that these days, most have an oily base, which stains your fabric. The dry chalk pencils that easily brush off are hard to find.I'm always on the lookout for a better marking solution, so when I saw the Chaco Liner being used in a couture sewing class I took, I ran to order one. The "pen" has a reservoir filled with a fine chalk-like dust (which can be ordered in several different colors) and there's a serrated wheel that distributes the chalk dust when you draw a line. I like how it draws a very thin line, without much effort on your part. It's easy to use, and if you have long sections to mark, like when you're making bias strips, or outlining a pattern, it's great. It's not so good for small things that need to be marked, however, like notches and dots. That's inconsequential, though, because the marks it does make are not easily removable.I drew a few test lines on some unbleached muslin, then attempted to brush the lines away. It's a fine chalk dust, so it should have easily brushed off. It smudged a bit, but that's about all it did. I tried repeatedly to remove the marks from my fabric, but they wouldn't budge. This is a fail, because I need something that's easily removable, particularly for fabrics that you can't spritz with water. The Chaco Liner might work great for some people, especially if they have different requirements for their fabric markers. But it doesn't work for me. I'll give it two stars, since I did like how easy it was to draw a straight line with it. Not recommended, unless you're marking something that can be tossed in the washing machine to rinse the marks away. Even then, I would test a scrap of your fabric first, just to be safe.

Love it!
I was so happy to know these exist! I don’t know how I’ve gone so long without one. My days of suffering through traditional tailor’s chalk are done.

Good for select uses
I bought this to mark fabric for quilting. It is fine for marking lines that won't show or on items that you intend to wash after sewing. I was hoping to use this to mark the quilt lines on top of the quilt. Since I prewash all fabric before quilting, I do not wash the finished quilt. On testing, I found that I could not just brush off the chalk, and even wetting a rag and rubbing it over the chalked area did not clean off the chalk. It did come off when I actually put the marked fabric in the washing machine. It is very easy to use, so I will be using it to mark the backside of fabrics or places where it will not show. I will keep to the thick white school chalk for marking the top of the quilt. That brushes off easily without laundering;

Finally happy.
I have tried chalk sticks, chalk pencils, heat, air and water disappearing pens. Mechanical chalk pencil. Prefer to use lead pencil when it doesn't matter if the lines show. But for lines that need to not show, THIS is the item to use. Follows edge of rulers easily and accurately. Nice even line that is a fine line for accuracy. THIS IS MY GO TO marking tool after a lead pencil. I have this in white, blue and pink.

Great for sewing and quilting projects
Really useful when sewing and quilting as the chalk line produced is not too heavy. My quilting tutor, a very experienced textile artist recommended it. It's better than a chalk pencil in my opinion. Just make sure that you test, on a spare piece of fabric, that you can remove remaining traces of the chalk line before committing to your precious project! The chalk pens are available in other colours and you can buy refills to save money, but they do last ages.

Great for marking fabrics
It worked well to mark on my fabrics and I like that it's pen shaped so I can mark on smaller area. However, only downside is that the chalk powers sometimes don't came out as smooth as I wanted, but given a few shakes did solved the problem.

Really useful for sewing as it marks cleanly and clearly
Really useful for sewing as it marks cleanly and clearly. I sometimes struggle with chalk that the marking isn't as clear. I haven't had any issues with this not rubbing or washing off.

Five Stars
The colour goes onto fabric and comes off easily when needed. It leaves a clear precise line.
