AmazonBasics Hard Disk Case for My Passport Essential (Black)

Overall Purchase: Recommended Main reason to buy case for me is to protect disk from scratches and to organize USB and disk together. So it's a perfect case of hard disk. I am keeping my WD My Passport hard drive along with USB and few pen drives. I am using this case from last two months so can't comment on durability but everything else is perfect so happy with the purchase. Likes: Quality is good. Looks elegant and I bought it for Rs. 369(including tax and shipping) so seems very reasonable. Zip is quite smooths. Dislikes: Nothing so far. * not waterproof if you are wondering

TL;DR: Extremely well built case. Pretty expensive though. Buy if on sale. The AmazonBasics External Hard Drive Case is a good little product if you travel quite a bit and want a convenient little package to hold your external hard-drive. However, priced at around ₹700 it's a bit expensive for just a case. I bought it when it was priced at ₹500 and I'm writing this review after using the product for about 3 days. -The first thing you should keep in mind is that the case is not extremely hard ALL AROUND. In reality, the perimeter, or the edges of the case, are hard and thus, provide sufficient drop protection. Moreover the exterior is pretty boring and dull with just black all over and no embossed logo of any sort (except for on the zip). -The zip of the case is pretty nice. It unzips and zips smoothly if done properly. -The inside of the case is a bright orange which is a nice contrast to the black exterior, the left side holds a pouch to store your wire and other tiny items. The right side has a strap that is unsurprisingly of very good quality and is stitched tight to the interior . The strap holds any hard-drive tight. It fits my Seagate 3TB Expansion Hard Drive perfectly. All in all, AmazonBasics has made a really well built case which unfortunately comes with a steep price. It's a must buy for anyone who travels with a hard-drive and is willing to shell out just a little extra.

This hard shell case from Amazon Basics is of very good quality. Whether that be the zipper, build or quality of the materials used inside. At a price of Rs. 370, it offers a lot. The hard disk that I have put in this case is the Seagate Ultra touch 2TB. It can easily store a bigger hard disk also. Overall a great product from Amazon and at a very cheap price. Delivery was quick too.

A very good product. It can hold a power bank and an external hard disk. Enough room for various cables, charger, earphones, OTG cables, etc. and small zipped pockets for the pendrives and SD cards. It helps me organize all my electronic accessories in one place. Good for travel and day-to-day use as it reduces the fear of losing the cables, or worse, breaking them. The product came carefully packaged, and on time. The exterior and interior quality of product is good. The product is exactly as is shown in the picture, it can be easily carried inside a laptop bag, fits perfectly.

I purchased both AmazonBasics External Hard Disk Case and AmazonBasics Hard Carrying Case for My Passport Essential (Black) during great Indian Sale for 299₹ and 399₹ respectively. Expectations:: 1.Carrying case for My passport was different than External hard disk case in quality and size as it is 100₹ costlier 2.External hard disk case might not be too solid like Hard case for My passport essential as it is 100₹ lesser The unexpected:: 1.Both My passport essential and external hard disk case are ablt to hold all my hardddisk (4tb,2tb,1tb,320gb) without any issue 2.4TB WD harddisk is thicker and bigger than any other so it wouldnt be possible to put it in external hard disk case.......bt it was not so........it easily snucks in What I loved:: 1.For 299₹ it absolutely a worth product 2.Hard case for both the cases are solid and well built 3.The AmazonBasics USB 3.0 Cable - A Male to Micro B - 3 Feet (0.9 Meters) - Black is held well within the net compartment 4.External hardcase was easily able to hold all HDD of different sizes and shapes easily 5.Amazonbasics logo on zip 6.The zipper quality is good 7.Stitches are also great What I didnt like:: 1.Only the price for passport hard case being higher than AB external disk case. I have already given return for AB My Passport essential as I dont understand why I need to spend 100₹ extra on product which is smaller in size when i can get same quality product for 299₹. Will wait for next great sale to buy AB external hard disk case again. Update(11/06/17):: I was planning to buy different case which comes under 300₹ but then I saw AB external case for price lesser than 299₹ so I got 2 more for 237₹. Packaging was too good for such a small product, felt like a waste of cardboard. The build is good with outer cover being hard nylon finish and inner cover being soft cloth. There is not any kind of cushioning or padding on the inside. If the inside had any padding, this would have been a perfect product. Fits perfectly for my Seagate Backup Plus Ultra Touch without any gaps on the sides for any movement. Should fit most of the new slim hard drives. Then again, check the dimensions before buying. Good product overall and a must have accessory for hard drives.

I forgot the price, but if I bought it then it must have been at a reasonable rate because I'm poor. But that asides, it's very good. Solid case with decent space. Using to keep my hard disk for 2 years now.

Perfect, sturdy little case. Use it to protect a WD drive while travelling, and it's been fine. Taken a few knocks but WD has been fine.

I have multiple external hard-drives, some of them are bulky and are meant to keep a backup at home. Some of them are smaller ones which I use to carry my photos and other files around with me while I am traveling or transporting data between home and office. Two of them are small 1TB and 2TB USB3.0 hard-drives. I wanted to buy a case for them. After considering a lot of hard and soft cases from various sellers, I stumbled upon this and thought of giving it a try. And it was a wise decision !!! As I always say, Amazon Basics items are equivalent (if not better) to quality in other comparable items from different manufacturers and yet they are available at almost half the price (and sometimes even lesser than that). I have many of the Amazon Basics items and I am not unhappy with any of them. And this is no exception. A few good things: 1. The exterior is pretty hard and you can rest assured that your HDD will be protected even if this case is buried deep down in the luggage. 2. Soft interior makes sure that the HDD stays safe even if there is some pressure on it from other items in the luggage. 3. This case is made for HDD which do not require an external power because there is not much space inside for any adapter. However, there is a mesh pocket which can be used to store the USB cod safely. 4.Even if its hard and durable, the case is pretty light-weight and wont ad much weight to your luggage. 5. Although its advertised for Western Digital My Passport but it can be used to store other USB powered HDDs which are up to 5 inches in dimension. I have one of these for my Seagate 1 TB HDD. 6. It also has an elastic band to hold the HDD securely in the case while in use. 7. The zipper is of very good quality and will not fail on you anytime soon. Cons: The only disadvantage I can think of this case is that there is none. If I have to count one, I would say it would have been better had they made a small zipper pocket inside the case (which would be of great use to photographers like me to also store their memory cards in it while on a trip. All in all, this is an excellent case at excellent price. AMAZONBASICS DOES IT AGAIN !!!!!
