From Up on Poppy Hill [Blu-ray]

ケースのデザインが最高。

以前、同じバージョンを持っていましたが今回2020年バージョンがあると聞き、購入しました。 今回のバージョンのほうが、私は好きです。気のせいか、映像がさらに綺麗になったような気がします。 買いなおして良かったです。

DVDの方は日本では再生できませんでしたが、Blurayの方は大丈夫でした。

スタジオジブリ作。舞台は1960年代の高度経済成長期に差し掛かろうとした日本の横浜。 翌年には東京オリンピックの開催が決まっており、日本は大きく発展しようとしていた。そんな頃のお話。 朝鮮戦争で父親を亡くした少女・松崎海は毎朝、下宿している家の庭に信号旗をあげていた。 港を望む丘の上にある下宿屋のその信号旗を、海の上で通り掛かる船の上から父親の仕事を手伝う1つ年上の少年・風間俊がいつも見ていた・・・。 一方、海の通う高校では文化部の部室のある建物「カルチェランタン」が取り壊されそうになり、全校生徒の8割がそれに賛成。 残りの2割の建物を使用する生徒を中心とした一派と激しく対立し、毎日のように紛糾していた。 そんな中、ふとしたきっかけで知り合った海と俊。徐々に惹かれ合う二人は共にカルチェランタン存続運動に身を投じていく。 それは微かな、やがてハッキリとした恋へと繋がる道でもあったのだが・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・。 観て雰囲気が同じジブリアニメの「耳を澄ませば」に似ているなと思いました。 「耳をすませば」の主役の2人を舞台だけ1960年代に移行させたようなイメージ。 さらにそこに地理的な舞台として「崖の上のポニョ」と同じ「海に近い港町」を持ってきて通り掛かる船を登場させる。 「崖の上のポニョ」の舞台で繰り広がられる「耳をすませば」という喩えで何となくイメージが掴める？ テーマ的にはキャラの「青春の戸惑い」や「出生の秘密」などを盛り込んで、 主人公の過去に「戦争」の影をチラつかせながらも、明るい風景描写と「高度経済成長の日本」という背景で 極めて鑑賞後の後味のいい作品に仕上がっていましたよ。 但し、結局のところ「海と俊の関係」は・・・・勘違いでは肩透かしもいいところ。 ちゃんと「禁忌の関係」ならではの見せ方をやって欲しかった！ 声優は特に問題ないと思います。主題歌をはじめとする「歌」も非常に印象的。 後は、ラスト近くで主人公2人が手を振るシーンがあるんですが・・・・、 それが「天空の城ラピュタ」のラスト直前のシーン（パズーとシータがドーラ一家に別れの手を振るシーン）を思い出させましたよ。

画像から「ふたり」だと思い違いしていましたが「コクリコ坂から」とわかり購入しました。 騒動・葛藤がありますが最期には問題が解決して、手嶌 葵さんの「さよならの夏」を聴きながら穏やかに終わります。 少し前に観た他の作品ではヒロインの死が幻想のように描かれていて静かなBGMもあって悲しい最後でした。 Blu-rayに傷があるように見えましたが拭いたらきれいになり問題無く視聴でき、 DVDも傷無くきれいで北米版に対応したプレーヤーで視聴できました さて、ケースですが商品ページではグレーで味気なく見えましたが届いてみるとガンメタの渋いスチールブックならではの色と質感です。 今は手放しましたが「猫の恩返し」のスチールブックもオレンジ色に見えますが金色との間のようでキレイだったと思います。 商品ページで見るよりキレイなので他の作品のも実物を見たいところです。 ただスチールと言ってもそれほど厚みがあるわけではなく押さえると凹むので不要な力を掛けないことが大切です。 少し前スチールブックのラピュタやナウシカなどが安かった時に買うか迷いましたが国内盤が手元にあったので思いとどまりました。 値上がりは予想していましたがやはりと言う感じです！

I waited so long to see this Ghibli movie. I have no idea why. I guess it wasn't any kind of fantasy like Spirited, Howl's, Totoro, Arrietty, Kiki or most of their others so it wasn't grabbing me like I need to see this (although I loved Whisper of the Heart). Do I ever wish I included this in my viewing rotation earlier. Love this movie. If anyone reading this was in the same boat as I was I definitely recommend seeing it. Love these Steelbook versions. Looks like I've missed out on Whisper and The Cat Returns unless I pay 6x to 8x the original price on eBay. Glad I have this one now so that doesn't happen. Highly recommend buying with a few items that won't crush or scratch it. If you buy it only, it will likely come is a bubble mailer and can easily get dented. If you get something like a few boxes of granola bars and cereal, it will get boxed and you'll have a much better chance of not have to exchange an item that should've been handled like the collectors item that it is.

This is definitely an underrated Ghibli movie! It’s so cozy, and I love the main characters! If you like all of Miyazaki’s more famous work and you haven’t watched this one, it’s totally worth the watch!! I’d even buy it even if you hadn’t seen it before!! The disc was great and I had no issues.

Gorō Miyazaki’s 2011 film, “From Up on Poppy Hill,” adapts a screenplay by Hayao Miyazaki and Keiko Niwa based on Chizuru Takahashi and Tetsurō Sayama’s manga, “Coquelicot-zaka kara.” The story takes place in 1963 Yokohama, Japan amid the backdrop of increasing student activism and local dissatisfaction at the U.S. Navy impressing local merchant mariners to support U.S. military activity in Southeast Asian, particularly with residual bitterness from the Korean War. The plot begins when Umi Matsuzaki and Shun Kazama meet when Coquelicot Manor, the local school clubhouse, faces demolition amid renovations to the city’s Latin Quarter as part of a modernizing effort in the postwar era, particularly with the upcoming 1964 Summer Olympics. A great film exploring a unique era in history. Fans of Anton Yelchin and Gillian Anderson will particularly enjoy this as they provide the English-language voice dubbing.
