Oh pay up, you'll be glad you did, I promise.
Oh my gosh. I think that this is pure HEAVEN. Backstory: I have interstitial cystitis. On the IC diet, chocolate is verboten. Absolutely no chocolate unless it's "white" chocolate. In other words, I've been without the taste of REAL chocolate for three years. Three very long years with nothing but white chocolate. What's worse, is that I'm allergic to corn. Remember that in the good old U S of A, it's totally lawful to have corn up to the eyeballs in ANY product and you don't have to label it as containing corn. So I can't just read a label and say, "oh, this is safe." Nope. I have to look at every single thing I eat and wonder, will this send me to the hospital? Will this kill me? Will my trachea swell up and my family come home and find me choking and gasping as I die from anaphylaxis? Yes, so as a result, my entire diet is grass fed meat and organic veg. Nothing else. No booze, no coffee, no desserts, no ice cream, no vinegar, my gosh, I can't eat white chocolate anymore because inevitably it actually has corn in it. There hasn't been a single white chocolate that didn't cause me to have a near death experience. I gave up on the third incident two years ago.... I've been a patient at NIH (yes, the National Institutes of Health) and had to explain to an allergist there that YES CORN CAN CAUSE ALLERGIC REACTIONS. Honestly, the guy didn't believe me! I said, you want to take out a powdered glove and see what happens? Anyway, I read somewhere that even people who cannot eat a Hershey bar can sometimes eat Cacao Nibs. So I ordered some and tasted chocolate for the first time in years last month. My bladder tested, bladder approved experiment was a success. So I decided to widen the circle. I ordered this. You know the look on a toddler's face at that first birthday party when he/she eats his first bite of chocolate cake? Well, that was me just now. I had looked up the ingredients and it really is "clean" because it's made in Italy and in the EU you can't add corn without labeling it as such. (I wish that doctor at NIH could just see how they approach allergy in the European Union!) SO this contains cocoa, cane sugar, cocoa butter, vanilla. That's it. It does have the caveat that it may have traces of various tree nuts and also milk. But those aren't problem ingredients for me, thank goodness. But the amazing thing is that since it doesn't have any dreck-y ingredients, the chocolate flavor just SINGS! It is very dark, rich chocolate, and because it has some sugar it is sweetish. Not achingly sweet, but clearly and lightly sweet. And the chocolate itself is not bitter. That's what I noticed about the cacao nibs was that depending on the brand, they can be bitter. These doesn't have even a trace of bitter, and yet it is very dark chocolate. And the vanilla is SO subtle as to be almost missing, but not quite and that's the best, it has just the slightest hint of floral vanilla. So, if you have been deprived of anything sweet, like me, for YEARS, make this the first thing you take the plunge with. My gosh, I wouldn't freaking care if they charged fifty bucks for this, I would pay it in a second. Yes, it's that good. My son is a chef in a very high end French restaurant in Washington DC and he said "wow" at the first tiny bite. (He gets to eat amazing food all the time, so a tiny taste is all I'm parting with on this bar--he can go buy his own.) My kids and I are what is known as "super tasters" so a yummy thing for us is really amplified. In another life, I would have been employed just using my taste buds and nose and like all natural oddities it's both a blessing and a curse to be a super taster. If you wonder if it's worth it, don't hesitate. It's that good. I'm about to buy everything this vendor has, so don't get between me and these or I'm afraid I'll have to kill you.

Good but not worth the hype
This was pretty good but really not mind blowing. The sugar flavor was higher than I would expect. It is thin and smooth, not a lot of texture. I bought this to try out before springing for the Porcelana. I don’t think it will be a repeat purchase as there are too many other products out there that are good and more special.

Italian chocolate with clean ingredients.
My first time purchasing this chocolate. It tastes really nice. If you're trying to eat clean ingredients, this chocolate bar is very clean. No soy or sunflower lecithins, no oils. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. QUALITY ingredients from Italy and delivered by FED EX to my front door.

Yes.
Flat out the richest, most incredible chocolate I've ever tasted. I have ordered several bars now for family and friends. This is worth the money, I know it seems like a lot. This is the sort of treat where you eat a small piece and go into flavor orgasm, and you are satisfied. Nobody is going to eat this thing whole. All of my orders have been delivered by Caputo's Market, with fantastic customer service. They sent me a bag of free bars for free after making a mistake on an order. They also deliver each package with a long lasting ice-pack.

Tastes like chalk.
This tasted like chalk. Totally disappointing. I love high quality chocolates and had heard this brand was good, but, um, no. Waste of money.

One of the best dark chocolate bars, even among high-tier chocolatiers (such as Valrhona, Domori) Toscano Black 70 stands out. Rich, creamy and delightfully bitter. A rare gem of true craftsmanship and outstanding cocoa quality.
