These work
I’ve purchased four of these over the years. The oldest is probably 20 years old. They are substantial rubber blocks with the correct taper to properly chock a wheel (many tire chocks have too steep an angle on the face and are too tall; both cause them to fall over). Every time I buy one I think the price is too high. Every time I use one I never think about the price. Drill a 5/8” hole through the vertical back of each chock and put about a foot of 1/2” or thicker cord through it. Tie an overhand knot on the inside, and bob’s your uncle. The chock sits flat on the ground, you can kick it into place as hard as you want, and a tug on the rope releases it easily. You need a pair of these.

By far the best wheel chock
I looked around at what options were available for wheels chocks before buying my original set of these, and have been very happy with them. They’re heavy rubber and just soft enough so they grip the ground well and stay put. Their shape and size are also well-suited to use with passenger cars, unlike most of the other rubber chocks I’ve come across which seem more geared toward larger tires like on commercial vehicles. I have forgotten about them and tried to move my car a couple of times after working on it, and it would not budge. I’ve been happy enough with them that when one of my originals somehow disappeared, I ordered two more to complete my set and have a spare on hand. Kind of wish they were a little bit less expensive for what are essentially just chunks of rubber, but they have an important job and I can’t argue with how they work.

My favorite chocks
These are my favorite chocks for use on asphalt and concrete. (Smooth and flat surfaces.). THe chocks fit the 17.5" tires and hold tight.
