Big Blue 10-Inch Sediment Filter

I rarely leave reviews, but this one indicates a great product. I’ve tried various filters, from cheap to expensive, and this one surpasses expectations. My well water is high in iron (reddish clay), but this filter works wonders. Highly recommended, though the price is on the expensive side.

Not much to say. They fit my 10" big blue filter housing (one would hope since it's all made by Pentek). It's a 2 stage filter and it filters stuff out of my well water that I'd rather not drink and/or get into my fixtures/appliances. I specifically went with the 25/1 micron because we have some iron bacteria and most of the bacteria should get filtered out at 1 micron. I usually change these out at 6 months but honestly it's probably way too early. I have pressure gauges before/after my filters and I've never noticed a pressure drop.

Its an OEM part so of course it "just works." Make sure you have the 10" Big Blue water filter system. If you need the 20" order the "DGD-2501-20." I hope that helps.

Don't think they're better than the generic. But this dual gradient model has no noticeable water pressure drop compared to other filters with similar micron ratings. I get at least 12k gallons between changes. By 20k I notice it needs changing.

I have been ordering this Pentair Pentek DG-2501 about every month for many years now. It always works very well. BEWARE of knockoffs from other sellers...I thought I was buying the Pentek (the price was lower)...It looked the same...the packaging was similar...BUT it is a quarter inch too long! This extra length kept the sump from making a seal, which left water over my wall and floor. Do yourself a favor, Buy THIS real Pentair Pentak, it never fails!

I have been using these for our house well (3 Person family) to filter out the silt. For us, it lasts at least 6. O the without noticeable pressure loss and I started replacing them together with the 20” carbon filter. It’s a great value for the money. Prior to this, I had the particle filter was replaced every 3-4 month but this one seems to hold up better.

Great whole house filter. We are on a rural well. We didn't notice any pressure loss. I replaced it for the first time today after 2 months (4 people in house). It is definitely doing its job. It was full of silt all the way into the inner layers near the ~1 micron size. I installed a 3 stage big blue filter system, followed by a pH neutralizer, and finally a UV system. The first chamber is a washable 30 micron sediment filter. I cleaned it out today; it was fairly dirty after 2 months. The 2nd big blue is this cartridge. The final big blue is a 10 micron charcoal file. This filter can't be washed but it's lasted 2 months so far. I'm planning on ordering another soon so we are prepared if we get a sudden water pressure drop. I do have by-passes built into the entire filtration system but I only want to use them if necessary.

Good sediment filters but somehow I like the 5 microns better.

Works just like any other water filter and is cheaper than in a retail store.
