Really helpful for people who want to study real-time embedded systems, especially on Linux. The basic theory of real-time is implemented on the book.

Great book!
One of the best books I read about real-time systems. It gives a good introduction to real-time systems and contains many theoretical information.

Old text that has been replaced by newer books on the subject
This used to be a recommended text for Canadian engineering exams in real-time systems. The book is comprehensive, expert-level, and definitely in-depth, but it's a purely mathematical/theoretical text loaded with formulas. There are no actual programming examples in any language to apply the skills. It's also an older text (over 20 years old now).I had purchased this text thinking I would need it for my RTS course but the course now uses the textbook from Alan Burns and Andy Wellings instead. Their text is much more current and includes programming examples to actually apply the concepts.

Way more theoretical than I expected
Very thorough analysis of embedded systems from the theoretical side. It started out using Air Traffic Control (ATC) as an example to be analyzed, and as I am an aviation enthusiast, I thought the book would keep my interest. I made it about half-way through, and gave up.
