Better flavour if you use more
I was quite surprised when I opened the stock pot as I expected it to be a powder, but it came as a solid block, I guess because it’s organic? Anyhow, I scrapped off enough to make half a litre, and poured on the water. It dissolved easily enough after a bit of encouragement with the spoon. It tasted a little bit weak with the suggested amount, but even so it made a good base for a soup and you could easily make it stronger by adding more to start.

Sugar containing
Disappointed that contains sugar which I didn’t expect in healthy seasoning- as already opened it will go straight to the bin.

A good base for Organic soups and stews
This organic vegetable stock concentrate is made with sea salt and is gluten and lactose free. I was initially concerned that it contained palm oil, but then saw the certified sustainable palm oil logo on the side of the can. It is made in Switzerland and my can had a long shelf life date of 06/2025. It contains 0.3g of salt per 100ml, which is lower than other typical stocks that claim 25% less etc. So it’s winning on low salt. You break the seal on the can via the tear off plastic strip and then the lid just pulls off. I wasn’t quite prepared for the 40% air space within the can, so significantly less product than what it initially appears from the outside. That said, the label states 200g and it was indeed 200g. The stock concentrate has a crumbly texture and was easy to get into a measuring spoon. It dissolved quickly in boiling water into a light brown liquid. On tasting, there was strong parsnip up front, with undertone of carrot and herb on the nose. At the review price of 8.99 it feels quite expensive for what it is, but it will make a good base for my organic soups.

Not as dry as I expected.
The media could not be loaded. I was expecting this to be a dry powder but it's actually quite moist - not quite a paste, but certainly not a dry powder that flows. This is a grainy paste/powder that is very sweet. That's not surprising since the second and third ingredients are sugars. There's also caramelised sugar further down the list so this is very heavy on sweetness. Even though there are only 9 calories per 100ml of stock if made as indicated, that does mean that there are 90 calories per 20g of concentrate or 450 calories per 100g, which does seem quite high to me.The good thing is that vegetables and herbs are organically certified, and the concentrate is Vegan and low sodium. At £8.99 for 200g which makes 10 litres of stock (as at 16 December 2023) this might be worth trying - maybe in soup or gravy or maybe even on its own as a hot winter drink. Not sure if it's for me, I usually use pre-prepared liquid stock, but worth a go.

Comes in a paste, makes lovely stock
I ordered this hopefully as an improvement to the stock cubes I'd previously been using for soups and casseroles. I was expecting a powdery type of product, but on opening it seemed to be a hard paste, not as hard as a stock cube, but not far off. However it is easy to remove however much you want with a spoon.I have a soup maker so I've tried some of my regular soups with this as the replacement for the stock cubes, I seem to need a good teaspoonful in replacement, but the flavour is very nice and an improvementon the stock cubes, and it is also easier to take just how much you want each time.At the time of this review the product was priced at £8.99, I think this is quite a fair price for an organic product, and the fact that I intend to buy it again will tell you that I'm happy with it, so I'm also happy to recommend it.

Nice vegetable stock
This makes a really nice vegetable stock which is very flavoursome. It tastes slightly less salty than other brands, but also a little sweeter. The stock paste makes a stock that is full of small pieces of vegetables - I’m guessing that this is why it tastes so much better than dried stock cubes. This product is more expensive than stock cubes, but cheaper than the liquid stock that you can buy in supermarkets. In my opinion, it’s a nice product to keep as a kitchen staple if you want a stock that tastes more like the ‘real thing’ than a stock cube does.
