ANYONE Can Repair a Screen with this Kit!
Our dog left scratch marks in our screen door. I was completely unaware that the screen could be replaced, so I headed to the big orange store to buy a new screen door. $50 later, I was back at home and recognized that the very cheap door did not fit like the original. I headed back to big orange and replaced the door with a higher end (still junk) screen door for $75...only to have the same result as the first door. I then (after the fact) realized that the original screen door was more narrow (as was the channel) that typical doors, so I decided to research viable repairs...and learned that it's actually pretty easy. Bottom Line: I found this kit that includes the spline and spline tool as well as the screen for only $18...a great investment, but you only have one chance to get it right.Overall, this was a very easy and quick repair and I saved a ton of money in the process. However, I did come close to messing this up. My initial use of the spline tool (larger roller) tore a bit of the screen material as I got started seating the spline. Fortunately, I had room to slide the screen over thereby avoiding the torn screen area. On my second attempt, I changed my technique slightly which ultimately turned out great. What I Learned: Even though the spline itself is kind of thick, I used the more narrow roller on the tool and avoided any more tearing.Bottom Line: This is a great, economical kit with a spline tool that will last a lifetime (don't buy the plastic spline tool)...so next time, all you have to buy is the screen, and maybe more spline (recommended). The only negative is that the screen material is kind of fragile. As mentioned, it tore a bit as I used the larger roller on the spline tool, and this was with very littler force. However, I'll chalk it up to user-error as the door turned out great once I swapped to the smaller roller. Great kit...would buy again!

Took my time and install went smoothly with no problems
I purchased this kit to replace the old deteriorated screen on my front screen door. Besides the roller, my kit came with a brush to clean the screen. The brush is a dual tool and contains a plastic edged tool that can be removed and used to press the spline into place. The tool is soft plastic and so doesn’t work very well, but the roller can’t do the corners so it came in handy. It occurred to me later that a butter knife or small screwdriver would have probably made the corners easier. There is no tool to help remove the old spline, but it’s not necessary. I simply used a tiny screwdriver to pop the end of the old spline up and then pulled it all out. Although the pictures show a rolled screen, mine came folded – just as the description said it would be. Because of the folding, the screen does have some creases in it, but these are not sharp creases like those in a pair of freshly pressed slacks. The creases are very light and disappear once you have the screen properly installed.I’ve done a lot of construction and renovation around the house, but this was a job I had never done before. I was dreading it and procrastinating, but I found I needn’t have worried. I performed the entire install with the door still hung. I cut a piece of screen off intentionally too large for the job and used some packing tape to secure it at the top about five inches above where the spline would be inserted giving myself plenty of room. I then secured it the same way along the bottom and sides. This was pretty much just to hold the screen in place while I worked, but I could see if it was stretching or distorting during install too. I then started inserting the spline along the top using the smaller roller. The spline was thicker than the old stuff so I stretched it a bit to make it thinner and easier to press into place. After doing the top and left side I stopped, pulled the screen down and to the right at the bottom right corner and squeezed a small piece of spline in there for a temporary hold. I then splined the bottom always slightly pulling down and to the right - slightly. I then removed that temporary piece of spline and did the right side always slightly pulling to the right. When finished I had no cuts, tears or distortions and if I laid that thing down horizontally it was tight enough to bounce a quarter five feet high. Of course, scissors won’t work to cut off the excess screen. You’ve got to use a razor.Take it with a grain of salt when you read that it took 10 minutes, 15 minutes or even 20 minutes to do the job. The time from removing the old screen to trimming off the excess screen probably took me 45 minutes, but then, I’m an arthritic old man. Or maybe it took me a little longer because I took my time, did it right and had no problems. No cuts, tears, sagging or wrinkles and it’s good and taught.I now use the brush for cleaning my computer keyboard and I sharpened the roller on my grinder to use as a pizza cutter.

Easy and convenient repair!
Easy replacement with all tools in a box is super convenient. Extra large screen so you can trim to the size you need to fit your screen. It did tear a little when I was wheeling down the black sealing tube. Wasn't expecting that since the material seemed strong when I tried to stretch it out it didn't stretch or tear. Maybe I was using too much force with the tool, since I'm tiny. But the screen looks fantastic and cheaper than replacing the entire screen door. Worth the DIY!

Excellent kit
Everything you need to replace a window screen. There were no instructions in the box but it is pretty straightforward what you need to do. Everything you need comes in the box except the utility knife to trim. Will definitely purchase this again when I need to repair more screen windows.

Nice Screen
Ample amount of material for a screen door, (large piece left over which may do a window). The spline tool worked well and even though the screen was folded, there were no creases once the screen was lightly stretched and installed.

Not easy and metal roller rips through the screen!
As a kit, this looked very good. It's a complete kit with the screen, the twine, and the roller with 2 sizes on the ends. The screen feels strong, the mesh is grayish, and seems good quality. The twine is about 1/8" fits very tight and hard! The problem I had with this is, when I got around to replace my ripped screen, I realized it's not a one man job - you need to stretch the screen and hold it tight in place to cut it and to install the twine around... I also realized that the roller, while rolling/forcing the twine into the groove, if it touches the screen it rips right through! So, after a couple of tears I didn't end up using it. This made the install much harder than it should be. In the end, it worked just fine but it was harder than it should and took longer than it should.

Screen door replacement kit was great
This screen replacement kit is very easy to use kimda smelly tho. No instructions came but it's one of those supper simple no instructions needed kinda job. Just took some figuring out to get the screen tight. And be careful if you happen to run the tool off the rubber a bit and it rubs the screen againts the frame it will cut the screen. I did that a few times by accident I hope it doesn't cause problems later. But that's user error not product problem. Over all great quality.

Good kit and makes your broken screen new again
Really good kit and the rubber seal was pliable and worked really well with the included roller. Hopefully the screening itself stands up to the elements but if not the kit came with more than enough to replace the section we needed a few times at very lleast. Easy to install and would recommend =)

Exactly what I was looking for
I decided to re-do my patio screen door and was searching for screen and tools online. This is exactly what I was looking for. It came with all the materials and tools needed for the job, and the size of screen is perfect. First time on this but it took me about half an hour to get the job done. The wife and kids said now I am a real handy-man. BTW you cannot find same products elsewhere at this price, plus the free one-day shipping.
