I loved the premise of the book and the characters were written so well that I felt like I was on the adventure with them!

Christina Lauren's rom com Something Wilder is aptly named. And not just because it echoes heroine Lily Wilder, is set in the modern-day Wild West, and mentions the word "wild" so many times it made my pun-loving heart gallop. No, the biggest reason is that this novel is "something wilder" than those that Lauren penned previously. And that's because it's brimming with, not just romance, but romantic adventure. Four city slickers take a boys' trip to a Utah ranch in search of fun and fabled treasure. Studly but sensitive math whiz Leo is the one we care about. Because the treasure hunt is led by none other than Lily Wilder, the girl he fell for ten years ago but left behind. The reunion is a surprise to them both and the first of many twists on a trip that quickly goes from carefree to deadly. Yet if the danger is disturbing, then the intrigue of the treasure more than makes up for it. As it turns out, there may be real gold buried out there in the desert, and along with it, Wilder family secrets. Lily and Leo must decide if they can put aside old hurts to find it. It's a wild ride alright, ripe with riddles and revelations. The Southwestern setting heightens the drama, touching everything with its eerie charm. You know I heart a desert scape escape, so this story -- and fever dream of a cover -- fit the Buffalo Bill. Best of all, the mystery kept me on my toes until the trail's end. Full of all the feels and cinematic scenes, Something Wilder has the makings of something bigger -- like a blockbuster movie. What a way to ride off into the sunset.

This book was not one of my favorites. It was a bit long and wordy. I think it's more for young adults.

Most of all, I just don’t want you to end up with a life half-lived.” Something Wilder is the newest contemporary romance by Christina Lauren which follows the story of Lily Wilder, Leo Grady, and an adventure-filled week in Utah. I went into this blind and expecting a typical romance story however I will say the romance is really a secondary plot throughout this book. The primary plot is about an off-the-grid adventure guide tour turned intense treasure hunt 💰 There is drama, twists, and violence as Lily, Leo, and their friends go off in search of treasure rumored to have been found years ago by Lily’s father, Duke Wilder. One of my biggest complaints about this book was the third person POV. I felt like we could’ve gotten so much more about the actual romance storyline if we were getting candid thoughts from Lily and Leo. Additionally, as this is a second chance romance, I wanted more of the original 5 months L&L spent together before their nearly decade long time apart. Overall this was a really fun and adventure filled read! I recommend if you like: 💞 Second chance romance 🌵 Escapism 🐴 Wild West vibes! 🗺 Riddles, codes, treasure hunts 🤯 Lots of twists

Rating：5 stars This is my first time reading Christina Lauren's work. I'll say it is wonderful and pretty enjoyable reading. The writing is so beautiful. I feel like taking an adventure to Utah Red Canyon with the characters all the way long. I can even feel the dry air and sunlight when I close my eyes, while the funny fact is that I've never been to Utah in my life. And the story is very well-designed as well. The plot has so many twists and turns that I couldn't even blink. I always love the smart, independent and capable female characters, and Lily is definitely my favorite type of heroine. Oh, I would fall in love with Lily if I was Leo. So I am really happy to see Leo make it right and win his love back eventually. Well done, man. After I finished the book, I had a feeling that Leo is like a key to Lily's life. A decade ago, Leo left, and Lily's heart was locked, as Lily couldn't love anyone else since Leo left. Beyond miserable love life, every aspect of Lily's life started to tangle up, family, career, finance. But now, when Lily reconnected with Leo and start this amazing adventure, Lily's heart started to unlock, and Lily's unsure life started to untangle little by little. The funniest part of the book is that there are full of riddles and codes in this journey as well as Lily's life, and Leo is literately a code breaker, no matter for the codes or for Lilly's life. It's really an interesting book, highly recommended to someone who enjoys adventurous stories or second-chance romance.

Any fun action adventure film made me think of this: Indiana Jones, Goonies, Romancing The Stone, The Lost City, City Slickers, etc. See, these are fun movies! Which made for a fun read. 🤠 Lily is cursed. Her father, known as Duke, was obsessed with looking for treasure. He’d live her looking for it. It seemed like everyone in her life lives. She’s left with leading city folks wanting adventure in a small safe jaunt in the desert. She doesn’t like it either but that’s life. Until the next group comes and it has Leo, a past flame. And the rest of his party is a unique cast of characters. 🤠 This kept my interest, I was giddy and laughed at loud. So perfectly paced and full of adventure. I just want more books with this group. Walter and Nicole! 🤠 This has a few steamy open door scenes, moderate amount of language, mild violence.

Sorry to put such a rude comment, but before buying it, I think it's important you realise this book is VERY different from others the same authors wrote. I really struggle with this one, still haven't finished it, not sure I will. This is not a rom com. It's a violent, guns and death treasure hunt story. There is romance, but to me, it's not worth reading the rest of the book.

This book was jam packed full of adventure and romance. It’s a unique and fun story with a few twists and turns along the way which keep you hooked. I loved Lily and Leo’s characters and I’m glad they got to reconnect and go on the ultimate adventure together.

One. But not my fovourite. Sometimes the plot went too wild. On the other hand I liked the characters very much. So 4 stars.

O livro é legal, a ambientação é bem interessante e nos deixa curiosos para conhecer o lugar. Acho que poderia fazer com o que o leitor se envolvesse nas riddles, pra gente tentar adivinhar o que é também.

As always, I loved their writing style, character development and love story. This is more on the adventure side and it might not seem as “realistic” as their other works, still it’s beautifully written and as undownputtable as the rest of their work.
