How loud is the beeping? Does it shut off automatically or have to be silenced?

It's not blaring, but loud enough to hear it from another room. Not as loud as a typical bedroom alarm clock. More like a kitchen timer. It does not shut itself off after a period of time. Just keeps going and going and going and... 😊
