The listed materials that it's suitable for is as listed: Suitable for Full Grain and Patent Leather, Synthetic and Faux Leather, Canvas, Suede, Nubuck, Mesh, Nylon and Fabric. So if your shoes are made of these materials then you should be good. I've used it on all listed materials and it works.

Will this help to protect & keep clean a new pair of white canvas converse?

That’s the reason I buy the product. It works for a while but if you don’t keep shoes clean and re apply, then the shoes get dirty as normal

If I use this on leather boots will this product make the leather darker?

I don’t remember if it changed the color but it did NOT provide waterproofing at all. KIWI Camp Dry works the best of anything I’ve tried. I don’t recall any color change to my shoes, boots.
