In a nutshell: It’s been a national institution for over decade now and the latest FIFA game is finally here, with lots more attacking gameplay, more customisation, more attention to detail, more online and offline multiplayer options and the deepest manager mode ever for the series. The lowdown: With Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer series snapping at its heels with ever more voracity, suddenly it’s FIFA that’s got something to prove. The answer for this year’s edition is a new emphasis on attacking play, with a suite of new tackling, dribbling and shielding controls. Naturally, it’s got all the new stats for the 05/06 season, but with the new create-a-player option you can change the facts to fit you. Also new is a 15 year career manager mode to prove your footballing skills don’t end when you’re off the pitch. Most exciting moment: Winning the treble after 15 years of hard graft in the all new career mode. Since you ask: According to cover star Wayne Rooney, the FIFA series is popular with many other premiership players, especially when travelling together for away matches. The bottom line: The best FIFA game, if not the best football game, ever. Harrison Dent EA Sports FIFA 06 brings the total football experience to your fingertips. Key features Review: Five Stars - lots of fun Review: Transfers - Ordered FIFA 06 and it should come on monday, i have played the demo and it looks great much better than FIFA 05 which i found poor. However i have read that the transfers will only be updated to August 24th will real madrid have robinho and baptista? when were they bought? this means that real madrid will have mostly the same team as last year if these two aren't in it and Sergio Ramos definately won't be. This worries me.

Demo is very intriguing
The demo is very good with a few little bugs that EA are aware of and will work on before its release on 30th Sept. Why do Pro Evo Fanboy's post on here and rubbish FIFA when im sure they havent even played it? infact they are hypocrites this year as I think this years PES is very bad! Same crap as last year, more annoying fouls for stupid tackles like little nudges and foot ins!! Did someone forget to tell Konami that Football is a contact sport?? Anyway back to FIFA, the graphics are similar to 05 which in a way isnt a bad thing, the player animations in my opinion are better than last year, Shooting system is far improved and you can score some very worthwhile goals this year. Team Chemistry makes a difference too in the gameplay. Overall I think its the best FIFA ive played for sometime. Cant wait for Friday.

A welcome suprise
I have a confession to make, I am a pro evo zealot (yes I play on 6 stars and have sworn my alliegance to burn all pro-fifa gamers). but after deciding i needed some footie action and not being able to wait for the october release i opted to buy fifa 06 having heard good things about it in games master magazine. i wasnt expecting much but it woulld tide me over until pro evo's release. well let me say this, i was blown away by the game! First off let me make on thing clear, gameplay wise its nowhere near pro evo, not even pro evo 3. but dont that put u off coz theres something about the way it plays that makes it, i dunno...'special'. it seems to capture the drama of the game. the pace of the game is a lot slower than pro evo but games seem to be a lot tighter, feeling more like youre playing a game of chess than kicking the ball around the park. the commentary as well is amazing, clive tilseley and andy gray are brilliant, it adds so much to the experience. there was one occassion where i was in the last 10 minutes of a game against liverpool and had a corner, whereby andy gray proclaimed ' this is there last chance of the match if they dont take this it'll be all over!' needless to say thomas rosicky floated a perfect ball in to the head of wayne routledge to score the winner! amazing! then the match ended with the sound of 'lyla' by oasis playing in the background ( as usual the soundtrack is pretty good). In terms of stats i only wish pro evo put more effort in. fifa has everything. i am a wrexham supporter and it gave me great delight to play with them in their fully licensed kit, sponsorships and everything. graphically i must say its again nowhere near pro evo, although the stadiums look great ( better than pro evo in opinion). the best fiture tho has to be the manager/career mode. its what pro evo's master league should be! manage any team and build your squad, increase the stadium, scout youth players, read newspaper headlines provided by 'the sun' on the progress of your team. If you want my final verdict, if u wanna buy a footie game this year, buy pro evo 5 coz its still the king of footie games. but at least now at last we have a worthy queen to sit by his side. fifa is a crackin game worthy of 5 stars. if youre mad on footy buy this game as well as pro evo. presentation wise its better then any game i have played ever. its fun to play and really captures the spirit of the game. if your still undecided wait until it goes platinum, then buy it. either way you will really be missing out if you dont get to experience this game.

good but diffrent
this game in the future is going to get quite a few comparisons to PES but there is good reason for this the graphics style is similar to that of PES but it has kept a balance making it still better gameplay has been vastly improved so that running straight through the defence is no longer possible attacks must be well thought out and planned the carrer mode is allso improved with managers haveing to take on more tasks such as contratct renewels and scoutin. the international squad selections has had one major upgrade you can no pick any english player to play for queen and country rather than just those on the bench(like in previouse fifa games) all this + a better soundtrack and the lisenceing means that pro evo has a long way to go before it will ever be as good as this
