The Parable Series: The Pine Tree Parable

Great Little Book That Teaches the True Meaning of Christmas giving
"The Pine Tree Parable" is a beautifully full color illustrated children's Christmas book that measures 8 1/4 inches by 8 1/4 inches. There are 30 pages in this hardback book. Each page is a full page full color illustration which is very appealing to the age group for which this book is intended - ages 3 to 8. A simple sentence or two of text is superimposed over each illustration. In addition, at the bottom of most of the pages in extremely small print is a quote from the Bible which applies to the text on that page. These printed scriptures give the actual quote from the Bible as well as the chapter and verse. I am not sure why these scriptures are almost microscopic in size - perhaps to not offend a non-religious reader. However, the very fact that they are there at all would seem to me could possibly offend the non-religious parent or reader. Personally, I think the scripture references should have been larger. This book has a beautiful story line that teaches the true meaning of gift giving at Christmas. The story starts out by telling all about the farmer and his family and the crops they grew on the farm. The tallest, widest, greenest, biggest, and loveliest crop of all was the Christmas trees. Each year the farmer and his family sold the Christmas trees. One day the farmer's wife discovered the most beautiful pine tree in all the field and she placed a "No Sale" sign on it. The tree grew more beautiful each year and each year people wanted to buy it but the farmer's family insisted it was not for sale. That is until one special Christmas. You will want to find out what happens to this special tree on that one special Christmas. You will also learn the true meaning of Christmas giving in the pages of "The Pine Tree Parable". I would highly recommend this book as a read aloud for younger children and older children could read it themselves. I would also urge you to read the Bible Scriptures that accompany the text on most pages.

Great Series for Kids!
My daughter loved this book as a child so I am now buying it for younger children that I know! The illustrations are beautiful and the writing is simple enough for a very young child, as well as being in depth enough for an older child. I love that this book gives a scripture for each page. So as the story is being told, a scripture confirms the biblical aspect of what was written. Love it!

A favorite for my "countdown to Christmas" collection
This looks like a really simple book, but out of about 25 books I've purchased for my countdown to Christmas collection, this is one of my top favorites. This has a great message about the meaning of Christmas and what it means to give a true "gift." There isn't direct mention of Jesus, but it would be hard for someone to not feel His love after reading this. There are scriptural references. I think this book will appeal to my children even as they grow older and anticipate that it will be a favorite for years.

Amazing story
This is favorite book for Christmas. I get tears in my eyes every time I read it. My preschoolers in my daycare enjoy hearing it but might not get all of it but it blesses my heart to read it every year. This has become a tradition in my home and daycare. I can't wait to pull it out each year! Read the verses then the story separately. It's a must have book!

My 3 year old daughter really liked this story and we read it a lot over ...
My 3 year old daughter really liked this story and we read it a lot over a Christmas. I thought the final line about Christmas and "sacrifice" was a hard concept for little-ones to relate to which spoiled it for me a bit.

Très belle histoire.
Je le recommande a tous. Une belle leçon d amour et de donner a ceux qui ont moin, sans compter reçevoir en retour. Il y a plus de joie a donné qu a recevoir !

Same as the other books in this collection
I found it's along the other books in this series. But I still loved reading it to my child. Still has a good message, and the illustrations are good too.
