Delft Clay LOVES ZAMAC alloy.
In have used this material for several years now-- it is an amazing material. For those interested- the trade secret here is that the sand is cased in motor oil- actually 30 wt- IF WHAT I WAS told was true- that is. The burned "crust" I have found- if reintroduced into the mix- lowers the quality of the next casting. I sift the sand through an aluminum window screen to reconstitute it. I carefully remove and throw out the "Crust". I HAVE tried to reintroduce motor oil into the mix to get the correct "cone" or stickiness. It is difficult to do this, as it takes a LOT of mixing to get the oil completely saturated into each grain of sand. I do not recommend it, because the amount of oil is very difficult to judge. Out of a new bag is the perfect blend.Good luck, and Happy Casting! My last successful casting was a ZAMAC alloy lock cylinder for a Ferrari 330. We poured the molten ZAMAC right around a key blank coated in VHT header paint used as a release. It worked out VERY nicely!

Great!
I haven't used it to cast anything yet, but it holds it shape when squeezed in the hand, which is what it is supposed to do, and can only function exactly as it should.
