Acrylic Painting With Lee Hammond

Good tips
This book wasn't exactly what I was looking for because I wanted a lot more step-by-step instruction (I'm painting with acrylics for the first time) but there were a lot of helpful tips and I liked seeing the four stages of paintings...drawing, painting, awkward stage and finish. My favorite tip from the book is "Don't Quit Too Soon" referring to the "awkward" stage. He wrote that "many beginning artists have a tendency to give up" (at this stage). I could relate to that because I almost gave up on an early painting but decided to persevere if it took forever. I'm so glad I did because I love the way it turned out.All things considered, I'm very glad I bought the book.

Good Self-help Book
I am really enjoying this book. It illustrates some of the different techniques used by Lee Hammond. I am taking some local art classes, and this book gives me some interesting projects to work on at home. Even the simple example of making a round ball or shere look three-dimensional is helpful to a new painter and is not as easy as it looks. She stresses that there is an "Awkward Stage" in any painting, and she points this stage out in each of the projects in the book. This has helped and encouraged me to give my paintings the final details needed to make my paintings more realistic.

Waste of time
Won't be buying any more Lee Hammond Books. You are absolutely required to Draw.If there is one thing I have learned from Bob Ross and Mark Daniel Nelson, it is:A) You don't need to know how to draw.B) Details are unnecessary. That's the end of that conversation. I forgot to say, this is a Book for people who know how to draw and want to learn how to Paint.

happy with my choice
I found this used book when I was looking for a beginning acrylics book for exercises and leasons about color, technique, perspective, etc. I am looking forward to starting the exercises listed. The author included pictures to show the stages of the painting and lists which colors she used for each. Good beginners resource.

Great book for those interested in painting.
This my second book from this author and I really like her way of outlining the start, mid point and finished art pictures. She provided more information then I presently have from previous work I've done in painting, and so I thought it deserved five stars. The best thing was finding it in kindle format so I'll always be able to refer back to it on any of my devises anywhere. Thanks Lee!

Acrylic painting by Lee Hammond
I Like Ms. Hammonds books. They are truly instructional. One can just follow the instructions and end up with a good painting and more confidence. The projects start with simple to medium to advanced. No project is complicated. Instructions are clear and detailed.Definitely benefits a beginner and next level artists. I also have Amazing crayons by Lee Hammond. I would give the same 5 stars to that book also. And the same review. Though I got these for myself, I actually used these to instruct my grand-daughters aged 7 and 9. Both did wonderful job of following instructions and ended up with beautiful finished paintings. I would highly recommend this book and Ms.Lee Hammond's other books on colored pencil and crayons to anyone - child or adult - who is eager to learn. Thanks you Ms.Hammond!
