Worked for vintage M65 Field Jacket
I was a little nervous given the variability on some of the reviews but I washed my M65 field jacket with tech wash and then cotton proof in my washing machine and I have to say that I'm pretty impressed, water beads up on rolls off similar to what the other field jacket user reported. Short of waxing, cotton will never be truly waterproof but I would say that if there were light rain or showers in the forecast I wouldn't be concerned. In the bottle the proofer smells a little like Elmer's glue with a trace of vinegar but I can't detect it at all on the dried garment.

If water pools for 24 hours, it gets past this product
I want to give a 5-star but the waterproofing of the entire surface is hard to achieve, even though I know I have bought the right amount. I can say that for the areas that this product did get onto, it definitely works. One note : It does not work if the water pools for 24 hours.

Good stuff
As others have noted in reviews, it looks and smells like diluted Elmer's white glue. Make sure you shake well and make sure to follow instructions. My deviations from instructions:After cleaning clothes (jackets and pants) with regular detergent, I ran them full cycle with a cup of vinegar. Then removed them and ran a full cycle of just water and vinegar (no clothes) to clean out any soap.Put clothes back in, filled the machine with water (all items needed cold), added half the bottle, let agitation cycle run, then stopped machine and let everything sit for at least an hour.Re-Started machine at beginning, let it run through all cycles uninterrupted. Put clothes in dryer without a static/softener cloth on lowest heat.Did this with Wrangler cotton blend cargo work pants, a no-name poly cotton jacket, knit poly winter hat, an LL Bean barn jacket (Teflon treated from manufacturer), and a Carhartt heavy cotton duck jacket (no factory waterproofing). The LL Bean, and Carhartt jackets got a spray down of silicone after. Both bead water well, the LL Bean jacket not as well as the Carhartt. The pants bead water a bit, they do not soak up water like a towel anymore, but they are not impervious to water (impervious should not be expected anyway).I do plan on using this stuff annually on all of my usual work outerwear.

My go too for waterproofing cotton
It works well, but it has its limitations. It's not going to protect you from a monsoon, but getting caught in a light to medium rain it will keep your clothing dry. Fairly simple to apply instructions are clear. When in doubt I just sent it.

Wash in treatment for cotton
I have a Carhartt duck cotton jacket. I live in the pnw. These two things don't mix well because it rains so often here. I actually used the entire bottle on just my jacket figured we would do extra strong so it really was waterproof. The phrase "disappointed" doesn't begin to describe my opinion of this garbage. It might have well just been water. It absolutely did nothing. It's not even slightly waterproof. The before and after are exactly the same. I could upload pictures but why even do that when literally nothing changed. Honestly I would never recommend anything from this company because of the zero star results I received.

GREAT PRODUCT!
This is a great product. My husband is a surveyor and he was in the rain and tall wet grass all day and stayed dry. He also said it cut the wind really well and it was 30 adn 40 MPH wind that day. If you do not do these extra steps the product won't work well. If you do these extra steps it works great!First we ran our washer with vinegar ( put 2 to 3 cups of vinegar in where liquid detergent goes and hot water to remove detergent and fabric softener build up through out my machine. It is in your machine even when you cannot see it. I hadn't used vinegar in awhile so we done this procedure twice. We washed my husbands clean pants from the closet with vinegar only (2 cups) on a long wash and no fabric softener. Actually we ran them a second time on a short wash with vinegar and then a rinse/spin only. Then we soaked his pants in a 5 gallon bucket of water with the product for a several hours. We dripped them out well and put them on a mini short rinse and spin. We dried them with HOT HEAT.It works!

Works well enough for light sprinkles of water
This product works well for light sprinkles of water. I used this for my motorcycle jeans as its original water proofing has worn away. Right after washing I noticed the cloth felt quite different. I tested it with some water spray and it did a good job. However, if it was patted with water or a wet towel the water will soak into the jeans. This will work for puddles and splashes. However, when I get on my bike and there is some water dew on the seat, the water still soaks into the pants... eventually.

Did not work as well for us.
I had a cotton blend fabric that I washed first with normal detergent as it wasn’t waterproof fabric to begin with. I have a top loader machine and I added the suggested amount of waterproofing solution and set my machine to 1/4 load, allowing the machine to fill and mixing the solution in before adding my fabric. After letting it complete it’s cycles I popped it into the dryer on low for a bit then hung it up to complete drying. My fabric beaded water in some areas and allowed water through in others. Fearing that the washing machine used too much water to make the waterproofing solution too diluted, we placed the solution with a small amount of water into a bin keeping the ratio of solution to water much higher. We allowed the fabric to soak for about 3 hours, agitating and flipping the fabric around often, and then hung to dry. The fabric beaded water better but still had patches where water would soak through a little. We read where folks had mixed results, and I’m sad to say that we are part of the unlucky group. My fabric is lightly waterproofed, but it definitely does not bead water like they show in their online video.

Good product
Used it on our winter tent and it is amazing. Let's the fabric breath and keeps the water from soaking through. Recommend it

It worked for me.
I used this to reproof an old canvas Billingham 550 camera bag plus end pockets. I used as per instructions (plus a dash extra for luck) and then used a sponge and a good quality paint brush to apply it inside and out. It went on well, soaked in nicely and dried fairly quickly. When the bag was dry and water tested with a hose, the water beaded and ran off as I hoped it would. I'm confident it will help to keep any equipment dry and has helped to give the bag a new lease of life. If you want to do something similar then consider the smaller bottle and save your money as this was a bit of an overkill for the purpose I bought it for.
