Faulty on second day
I had a bad starter in my CJ7 so I ordered this solenoid with the new starter to replace both as proactive maintenance since the starter was bad. I put the starter in several months ago but was lazy about the solenoid. Finally decided I should swap it in. Solenoid went in and worked perfectly on the test drive. The next day I went to start my Jeep and the starter wouldn't disengage and I couldn't turn the motor off at the key. I was going to yank the coil wire to shut the motor down but realized that since the starter was still engaged that this would only resolve half my problem. I went back and fiddled with the key some more all the while hoping the ring gear on my flywheel wasn't getting destroyed. Finally it shut down. I don't know why these simple little parts can't be produced without issues. I never had these issues with my daily drivers back in high school and college (65 mustang and 77 F100 - both with this style). In the past few years the replacement solenoid on my mustang wouldn't allow the motor to be turned off on random occassions and now this. A $13 part could potentially cause me a full day's labor and the cost of a flywheel if it ate my ring gear.

I’ve bought at least 12 of these before I found a good one. Some sit on shelf so long. This was the good one!
