Fun and easy read
We bought this for a weekend trips around the state. We couldn't have been happier. From a historical standpoint this book is graqtxad well for someone unfamiliar with Colorado.

Very high quality paper. Awesome color photos and diagrams. The previous edition wasn’t nearly as nice.

I purchased this book along with the Roadside Geology of Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. All were superb.
I purchased these books in support of a vacation trip I and my daughter are taking in early June to the four associated states. I had long ago purchased the Roadside Geology of Massachusetts and Arizona texts, and enjoyed them also. The color plates in the Roadside Geology of Idaho and Utah texts were a great addition. It is too easy to visit a geological wonderland like these four states and not have a full appreciation for what is being seen. These books will help immensely with the travel experience, adding a depth and dimensional appreciation that can't be gotten from any other readily available source.Well done!

Fantastic book for the Colorado motorist
This book is vastly improved over the 2nd edition and will answer most questions you have about the rocks you see along many of Colorado's highways.

The Third Edition is a Great Improvement
The third edition of Roadside Geology of Colorado is far better than the first two. Adding color diagrams simplifies the charts and maps immeasurably. Color pictures of the rock formations are extremely good. Also, the clunky diagrams that looked like were made with a Sharpie pen have been replaced by a professional graphics artist rendition. The text also seems to be current. This is important since new geological discoveries are being made all the time. The Roadside Geology series has improved in the last ten years. I just hope that Wyoming, Texas, and New Mexico get the same treatment. Also, include Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas to the library. I recommend this book.

Don’t leave home without it!
This was well read before and during our camping trip throughout the SW. We got one each for CO, NM, AZ and UT. Wonderful color charts and maps. Go back in time to see how the earth looked like eons ago. Tons of incredible info explained for non scientific types like me. Rock enthusiasts, don’t leave home without it.
