Works to Add Devices to Firesticks
I bought this to try to get a boot-looping Firestick to break out of it. This Firestick was beyond help. However, this cable does work with another Firestick as expected. I was able to hook a keyboard to it with this cable. This tells me the cable works but that one Firestick was toast.

Does work but not with the devices I really cared about
This is a preliminary review. I have ordered special cables that might allow charging additional devices. If results improve I will update. I have tried this with 4 devices and will give a brief description of results. I have a power adapter with several specific outputs - 2 iPad, 1 iPhone, 1 Samsung tablet, 1 Samsung phone, 1 generic USB. I tried each port with each device. Dell Venue 8 Pro - Did not charge device. I could not get the V8P to recognize a portable USB drive with power supplied to the micro USB female port. I will not be able to test this tab further because I have returned it. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 - Did not charge. Left it attached to be sure, and device lost charge. With power supplied via the micro USB female, the device would not recognize a portable HDD. The device did recognize the same portable HDD attached to a different powered OTG adapter, Zek Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 SD Card Reader, USB Adapter HUB, and OTG Adapter. Samsung Galaxy Mega - Did not charge. Actually forced phone to power off. I was afraid to try anything else. Archos 5 Internet Tablet - DID CHARGE DEVICE. I did not even try to attach a storage device because I am not sure if this relatively old device has OTG capability. But it does document that the female micro USB port does charge some devices.

Works perfectly on a Nexus 7 (2013)
I used this cable to playback movies stored on a Sandisk Cruzer USB flash drive. In combination with the Nexus Media Importer software from the Google Play Store, all I had to do was plug the OTG cable into my Nexus 7 and my movies were automatically displayed for playback. I used my Nexus 7 to watch movies during a 10 hour flight to Italy and this OTG cable made watching movies very fast and very simple. Video playback was smooth and reliable and I was able to carry many more movies with me on an external flash drive than would fit on the internal Nexus 7 flash storage. The SanDisk Cruzer fits so perfectly in the OTG cable it is easy to forget it is there. The OTG cable leads are short and very flexible which allowed me to just fold the cable ends behind the Nexus 7 so that they were out of the way. This cable provides a female micro USB cable for attaching your device to a charger or powering a larger USB device. The female connector will allow a Nexus 7 or other host device to be charged as long as the OTG function is not in use (i.e when a flash drive is not connected). I was unable to charge the Nexus 7 while watching movies. This is a limitation of the device firmware/hardware and not a problem with the cable. Fortunately the Nexus 7 has the battery life to operate during the entire flight. This OTG cable did everything I needed to do and appears to be holding up well during my long flights.

New outdoor computer. You'll have to figure out it's quirks.
Not 100% as pictured, but does what I wanted it to do. The version I received does not have the extra lip on the female microUSB. HOWEVER, it did come molded with a loop for lanyard or thin key ring. Very convenient strain relief if your power bar (brick, block, bank) comes with a keychain lanyard. I wanted to expand my tablet as an outdoor computer. As well as utilize a charging bar or similar USB 5V on the microUSB female leg. It is a little finicky with the setup depending on what main device you attach to it, as a phone I tried did not sense the charging bar unless piped through the regular USB side. Luckily, on my tablet, I can attach a charging bar to the micro female and hub a mouse and keyboard on the regular USB leg. Plugging in this, then one peripheral at a time may work better -OR- plugging everything in first into this cable and then into the main device all connected may work better. Again it's finicky, but works. You may have to unplug and reinsert as a conditioning. UPDATE: Had a issue with the cable not responding to anything on the female microUSB leg. No signal connection or power. Issue resolved by using a tape label (or just tape) corner to clear out any dust on contacts. Works like normal again.

The OTG USB port works GREAT but it will NOT charge my phone through the charging port
I primarily purchased this cable for the USB OTG adapter function and that part works GREAT with my phone (an LG Stylo 3); however, the additional charging port will NOT charge my phone. That is a disappointment but since I purchased it primarily for the USB OTG function, I decided to keep it. The overall quality of the cable seems fine but it would have been nice if the charging port worked because I'm recording audio from a USB audio interface via the USB OTG part of this cable and that can be a steady, fairly high drain on my phone's battery. On the bright side though...if you have always wanted to record audio via USB on an android phone (it must be one that supports it...look for "USB OTG" and USB HOST" in your phone's specs), this cable will work for you.

and working with better sound in an app designed for recording from USB ...
I just got this little guy, relatively recently, and have only tested a couple things a couple times, so I can't really attest to it's build quality/longevity. That being said, in my short testing, it seems to work as perfectly as it can, as far as I can tell. Cheapy sd card reader with 32gb micro sd card? System sees it, without any coercing. Astro does not, but I think that's a problem of permissions. Copying files to the device ended up being a little fiddly, but not too much. As for my other use, so far... ehh. I can get my Audio Technica AT2005USB recognized and working in Evernote, and working with better sound in an app designed for recording from USB microphones. (UsbAudioRecorder) As for the stock video app? ... well, if it's possible, I'm totally in the dark. I can run the aforementioned USB mic recording app at the same time, but, at that point, It's all starting to get a little bit silly. There's some color of static-ey noise (I know... really technical.) even in the special app, that isn't there/as prevalent, when recording on my computer, so I kinda doubt I'll be using this to record much audio, on the go. I haven't used any other USB OTG adapters, but I feel like it's unfair to judge this one for that noise problem, as it's something that I always expected from a cheap adapter. For the price, ($1.60 with free shipping, at the moment) it seems like a five star item to me, but if/when I encounter failure due to build quality, or unreasonable issues, I'll try and remember to update this, since that's where the value proposition is made or broken.

Nice for Fire TV Stick
Bought this to attach different accessories to my fire stick. I've attached Ethernet adapters, flash drives, and handheld keyboards that use a dongle to my fire sticks with no problems with this cable. You can only attach one item at a time, but have seen some of these that can take up to 3 accessories. You could probably also get a USB adapter with multiple USB slots as well to use with this one. I leave mine with the keyboard dongle on, as that's my primary use. These adapters can be hit or miss (I've bought many, from different sellers/websites), but this one has been going strong for about 2 years now. That's great value for sure.

It works...And has utility as well!!!
For those who are wondering, this product has the below uses... 1. Connect to Mobile phone as OTG cable for accessing files from a pen drive 2. Connect to Amazon Fire TV Stick (via OTG) to connect pen drive, and at the same time, connecting a charger to power the Fire stick. Why connect pen drive to Fire TV stick? it can help us expand the in-built storage of the Fire stick, and also we can store moves on the pen drive and play them via the Fire stick. Some even use it to store Android apps (apk files) on the pen drive and access them through the Fire stick and install them on the stick. This is for those apps that are not available directly in the app store of the Fire Stick. Nice usage scenario. 3. You can also use this to connect a Game Pad (Game Controller) to your Android phone and use the Game Pad (Controller) to play games on Android phones. Again, nice utility. I tested all the above scenarios, and this device worked very nice. Hope this helps. If this review helped you make your purchase decision, just hit the HELPFUL button. Thank you!
