The Sentinel

Arthur C Clarke's book is a classic, so it is a shame to receive it in this cheap, pirated edition. It is the type sold at traffic signals for Rs.50, certainly not worth the Rs.599 charged. It is not even pretending to be a legitimate Indian print; the information on the inside (copy of the original) indicates that it was printed in London in the year 2000! Seller should be blacklisted by Amazon.

The book is good and has short stories that were expanded later into well known books - 2001 being the greatest one.

Welcher echter Science Fiction Fan kennt nicht 2001 und 2010 von Arthur C. Clarke? Es gibt aber auch weitere sehr lesenswerte Bücher, wie z.B. Sentinel, aber auch Rama usw. . Absolute Empfehlung

I have been a lifelong fan of Arthur C Clarke's books. The Sentinel is a selection of his stories from the 1950's 60's and 70's. It was a revelation to read his early stories again (two of them I had not read before which was a special treat) to realise how good the writing was even then. His stories of space travel are absolutely captivating, every new book published was never a disappointment, they were all fascinating and held me spellbound. Who can replace him?

I'm a huge fan of Arthur Clarke and I've read practically all his books. So for me this book was a kind of "Flash back". But I have to say that the selection of stories was very good and either you will have a very nice 'revival' moment if you are already a reader or you will have a very good start with Clarke's stuff.
