Makes SUCH a difference!
Living in northern Vermont yields some very cold weather, wind, snow & very poorly insulated houses, which is precisely our problem. We'd been looking to purchase one of these fans for several months & finally jumped on it after seeing one at a friend's house on their gas stove. They LOVED there's, had it for several years without incident & said the fan really does make a huge difference. We are so thrilled with this little fan; it works SO well, whirring right along, moving all that cold air that comes in right around across the stove for an outpouring of so much warmth, pushing it throughout the house & reaching even the coolest areas. KICKING ourselves for not buying one earlier in the season! NO noise! Perfect!!I have read reviews about people holding tinsel & paper in front of the fan and not seeing any movement, which I think is either one of three things; either your fan is broken, misplaced on the stovetop (directions tell you exactly where to place it) or simple ignorance. If you want to SEE movement, don't hold your paper or tinsel or tissue directly in front of that fan, hold it to the outer sides of the fan where the blades are actually moving the air from & wait until your fan is really whirring (stovetop temp 450-650 degrees). If you can't feel the warmth moving across the stovetop, you're doing something wrong or your fan is broken.I also don't think that this is overpriced. We're saving on electricity, we're heating the whole house, the tornado of a fan we had plugged in before did nothing but cool the stove down & keep the house nice & cold in the morning when the fire had died down with the electric fan still blowing across it. This little guy keeps going & has made the most tremendous difference in heating our 1800 sq foot, very poorly insulated home. We have a big pot of water on the opposite side of the stove, too to help with humidity & the fan helps disperse the water vapors more, too, which also adds to the warmth & comfort level. SO should have gotten one sooner!! If this guy quits on us, we'll definitely be back for another one. Seriously a great product!

Huge difference in heat levels.
Purchased last summer for some strange reason at higher price ($7). Had returned cheaper model back in 2019 but the reviews here helped me repurchase this better model. The "air" that moves seems small, but when it got to 78 degrees and we wanted to cool things down removing the fan from the stove did so almost immediately and at least 5 degrees. Wow. My engineer husband was not impressed, especially when I told him the price, until he heard it was a motor activated by heat. Then he was intrigued and impressed. My house is cement and drafty. Even with wood heat it can be difficult to heat. This fan helps distribute heat immensely, better than ceiling fans. Highly recommended.

miracle of ingenuity
I now have two Ecofans. My first one is over 13 years old and has to be push started (the fan). I purchased another because it is such a great product. Not sure how it works, but it does. Distributes heat across the living room. I put the old one on the other side of the stove and it pushes heat into my kitchen and dining room.

Caframo Ecofan Airmax 812AM Heat Powered Stove Fan
The Fan works well and as many have said, it is very quiet. You can not hear it running. I like the automatic on/off capability of the fan based on the stove temp with no electricity required. There are a couple of points that I wanted to comment on for your awareness when considering to purchase. There is no protective shield around the blades, so beware when running! The directions point out that the fan should not be positioned in the middle or in front of the stove pipe if it exits out the top of the stove. The fan should be positioned off to the side of the stove pipe such that the fan can draw in cooler air over the Peltier Module, otherwise thefan may not work properly. So, you have to find the "sweet spot" on the stove where the base is getting hot enough to get the fan up to speed, yet it can still pull in cooler air to keep the heat sink & top of the Peltier module cool enough to maintain a temp delta for maximum fan speed. Something to think about! Also, it may be obvious, but keep in mind that the fan speed is dependent on stove temp and it is quiet because the fan speed can only ramp up to a maximum of 175 CFM of air flow. So, if you are using an electric fan now, don't think that this is going to match the air flow of the electric fan that will be much noisier and running at much higher CFM's.Consequently, if the wood stove fire is being started in a cold setting, it is going to take a while for the fan to start working and get up to speed.Fan operation depends on how fast the area on the stove where the fan is setting gets up to temp. When the fan gets up to speed the air flow you feel in front of the stove is slight and is not going to move enough air to bring the area up to temp as quickly as an electric fan would. So, don't think it is going to match the air flow and heat transfer of an electric fan for quick heating results, which I'm sure is not the intent of the Mfg'r. The obvious use is where electricity is not available, but some folks who have electricity may be interested in it simply because it does not require electricity. In summary, once the wood stove and the living area is up to temp, then that is where the fan is at it's best in that it is quiet and maintains a subtle air flow across the stove. This helps to keep the air flow circulating in the area and the fan will speed up or down based on the stove temp.If this is what you are looking for, then the fan works pretty good and is worth getting.Hope this helps...

Should have bought this long ago!
I regret not buying this forever ago. I live on a mountain with frequent power outages in the winter, which leaves me with only my 1800s kitchen wood burning cook stove as a heat source. Boy was this fan a game changer. It spreads heat well, and starts to turn fairly quickly. It’s also quite silent. I realized there were cheaper fans on the market, but it seemed worth spending the extra couple of dollars for the assurance of performance. I recommend this fan!
