Good quality knives in a slim block for a small kitchen
Good quality knives. Slim block design is original but, as per some reviews, no so stable with risk to tilt to one side while putting back the big knife into the block. I liked the design so much that decided to complement its creator with a small improvement from my own inspiration after a visit to the local hardware store: a couple of small satin nickel door pulls facing each other and sharing a common screw after a careful drilling....Hope that the Sabatier team like it :-)

Nice Small set
I ordered this for My step-daughter. She is very small, and the knives seemed like a perfect size for her. She has a small NYC studio apartment, so the small footprint on the block is also perfect for her. The knives seem to be of good quality, but alas, not my "Henkels 4 star", of which I own 14 seperate pieces. But, for a new-be in the kitchen... these shold be fine.

Not Happy
These knives are great until you need to sharpen them. Next to impossible to sharpen.

Nice Knives, poor quality storage block.
The knives are very nice, and good quality. The storage block seem nice, but displays the knives poorly. I've attached a picture that shows that the knives in the storage block are not evenly spaced.

Durable and high quality. Cuts well.
These cut great! Highly reccommend. No issue with the block falling over like others mentioned.

Nice Set Of Knives
Knife set is made of forged Japanese steel, is high quality with sharp precision blades. Comes with a slim bamboo block with a stainless steel base. Knives slide and store easily in the block. Block has a streamlined compact look and dosen't take up a lot of space up in the kitchen. You get 4 knives, one is a 3.5 inch paring knife ideal for prepping small fruits and vegetables, a 5.5 inch serrated utility knife for cutting through foods with a hard exterior, a 6 inch chef's knife- the go-to for almost any cutting task and the Santoku knife, good for chopping, slicing and dicing. Knives produce a sharp clean cut and are made of high carbon stainless steel. They're lightweight and the handle is ergonomic, has a riveted design and a comfortable grip. Overall, a nice high quality knife set to have in the kitchen.

Beautiful set of knives in a cool, modern block that is unfortunately not as steady as it should be.
This is a nice variety of knife styles in a very attractive knife block. It's a particularly good choice for small kitchens, or kitchens with limited counter space as it takes up a fraction of space as a normal knife block does.Once the knives are in however, the block can tip over if the knives, especially the heaviest top one, are not pulled straight out of the sheath. An easily-tippable knife block is obviously not a great thing which is too bad because the block does have a cool, clean contemporary look to it otherwise. The knives are fairly short in length, especially the santoku and chef's knives, but they are probably the most useful sizes overall for most kitchen jobs. The serrated knife is a good size for tomatoes, which it cuts brilliantly without smooshing them, but it is too short for most loaves of bread other than baguettes. The weight of the knives, coupled with the curve and thickness of the handles, feels good in the handWhen the steel goes the length of the handle is known as full tang and is what you want to look for in a high quality knife. The steel in this knife actually goes beyond full-tang which is a nice design touch and looks to be sturdier than just going full tang.I'm impressed with everything about this knife set, except for the tendency for the block to tip. That is really not a good thing and it's why I can't give this otherwise nice set a full 5 stars. Hopefully, there's an easy way to be found to steady the block.Quick note about Sabatier knives:Confusingly, Sabatier is not a knife manufacturer in the way that Wüstof or Henckels is. It is more like "Laguiole," in that the name is attached to an original French product in the way that it is made, and not necessarily that it is made by the originator of the product. So the Sabatier name is used by many manufacturers who make knives using the French Sabatier process.
