Excellent book that touches the heart and soul
"These hands belong to Rachel Joy Scott and will someday touch millions of people's hearts"(in one of Rachel's drawings)Interestingly, I got to know about the Columbine Massacre when I was in the polytechnic (in Singapore). In a particular lecture, a friend of mine beside me was reading FHM and I noticed to my surprise, there was a feature about it.Fast forward to end-2005. I don't remember exactly how, but I bumped into an article on Wikipedia about that fatal event. It piqued my interest and soon I was visiting every outgoing link from that encyclopedia entry. It was then that I found out who Rachel Joy Scott was.She was the first victim of the shooting.A beautiful, 17-year-old with a bright future ahead of her was slain as a result of two boys' murderous rage. A pity it seems; on the contrary, her kin and close friends, who should be the most shaken from the disaster, claimed otherwise. It tickled my curiosity and fired up my research into her intriguing life story--one of faith, hope and love--one of inspiration and vision--even one exemplary to the awesome greatness of God. These things were evident in her intimate writings--she recorded volumes in her diary, and if you don't know what that is, it's a private and retrogressive version of what we call a "blog" today. The sequence of events leading up to her death and her amazing testimony was compiled by her parents into this book. And I highly recommend it because it will change your perception of Christianity. Hers is a modern day example of what a true saint is.What inspired me the most was how mature her thoughts and faith was for her age. Her genuine heart of wanting to help others and be a blessing unto them radiates in her actions. The book also mentions the uncertainties and difficulties she faced--the things we all meet and can relate to--and how she submitted them to God. I remember an account of a lesson she learned while working in Subway, where she passed an opportunity to help a poor person. She eventually realized every failure to exercise the divine appointment God has given her will simply be given to another who is willing, and the heavenly reward will be theirs. This instantly changed my approach towards serving others. She even convinced me to start writing a journal.I lent my copy of the book to a friend, and I never saw it again. The book was passed on and around. I guess that shows how good the book was.Rachel's legacy lives on, not through her life, but her death. She had a vision to touch millions of lives and I am one of them. God bless her soul, and glory be to God!

Brynn D. Book Club Review
"Rachel's Tears: The Spiritual Journey of Columbine Martyr Rachel Scott" by Beth Nimmo and Darrell Scott with Steve Rabey is a story written by the parents of Rachel Scott who was killed in the shootings at Columbine High School in 1999. It was done by two of her fellow students, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, who despised the school and the students and wanted revenge. After her tragic death, they found journals and other writings that showed them that their daughter had an intimate relationship with God. The journals also showed her true feelings and her emotional view on certain situations. Rachel's parent’s share her writing and their experiences in this book to help others who struggle with faith. They also explain Craig’s experience at the shooting, since he was their other child who was involved, but unlike Rachel, lived to tell the tale. After reading many of her journals, they realized that Rachel's relationship with God was like none other. In fact, it was so strong that they that she knew that she was going to die young. They realized that Rachel was brutally honest with God in her writing. She expressed doubts about faith, but she always trusted God. Rachel’s used kindness and love to smother the evil that accumulates in the world, which is one of the main lessons that I took out of the book. The reason this book is such a must read is because of all the lessons and inspiration you could take from it. It forces you to have compassion and realize that sadness and sorrow can be surpassed no matter what the situation is. Rachel’s parents, despite being traumatized by the death of their young daughter, decided to look at the bright side and share with the world Rachel’s thoughts in her journals. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book.

Fantastic book! Every single person should read this book!
I loved this book! This book made me take a hard look at my life. I was in tears much throughout it. I am 37 and was a senior in another high school in Colorado when this tragedy happened. I remember vividly where I was and what I was doing when I a teacher told the class what happened. I am so glad I read this book. I gave me a new purpose in life -- to be compassionate and kind like Rachel was. She has become my inspiration to be a better person and better Christian. I hope to see meet her in Heaven someday and tell her how much hearing about her stop really affected my life. She said she wanted to change the world. She has! If only there was more people like Rachel, the world would be a much better place.

A Fascinating and Emotionally Moving Story
I first learned about Rachel and her story a few years ago at a school assembly for Rachel's Challenge. I remember thinking how tragic Columbine was and how somebody could kill someone so kind, generous, loving, and truly unique as Rachel was. She seemed like such a sweet girl and I wished I could have met her in my life. What's so inspiring is her love for God and her commitment to serving him and her wanting to make a difference in the world by spreading kindness and compassion. What was amazing to me is that Rachel knew she wasn't going to have a long life and she needed to use her life for a greater purpose. I highly recommend this book because you'll get a new perspective on life and read about a really special girl whose life was tragically cut short, but was able to leave a positive impact on everyone who knew her and people who will now read about her in Rachel's Tears. Once you read this, you'll never forget her and her story. She truly was an angel sent from God for a short time to make a positive impact on the world.

Very Moving
This book really touched me and I've read it several times. It's incredibly moving because it's both a testimony of the compassionate life Rachel lead, and a family's account of losing a beloved family member prematurely. It will challenge you to deepen your walk with God and to see each day as another chance to reach out.

A book for our time, for our children, for our world.
This important and powerful book faces the facts. It deals with the truth about the influence our lives have upon others, and about our deepest motivations. The cost and consequences of our social freedoms is vividly portrayed. The future of the world our children are inheriting is sharply focused in Rachel’s observation, “Tomorrow is not a promise; it’s a chance”.

Rachel's Tears
This is a very compelling true storyabout a young girl who is not ashamed to own the Name of jeus. Told by her parents, it gives an insight to the pain and heartache they went through. Would that we all had rachel's faith and courage. Wonderful book.
