I ordered this cane as a gift for an older gentleman who wanted a sturdy cane that did not look like an "old person" cane. It arrived on time, packaged in a hard, almost fiberboard type tube. This is during the Christmas season and the scuffs and dirt on the package indicated it had had a hard journey. But I needn't have worried; the cane was totally protected and undamaged. When I finally got the packaging off, I couldn't believe it. It is beautiful! The hickory has been smoothed and finished with varnish, yet it feels like a sturdy branch of a tree in my hand. The silver handle was polished and smooth as a mirror. The handle looks like it might have grown out of the end of the stick. It has a rubber foot on the end of the cane. I tried out the cane -- just in my kitchen -- and wished I had ordered it for myself! I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase.There was not a place on the order form to indicate which handle I preferred. I received an email from the vendor, American Made Treasures and Gifts, notifying me that they had received my order, so I replied back that I wanted the silver handle. I quickly received a reply -- from a person, not an automated message! And she followed through to make sure I received the silver handle I wanted.I would definitely recommend this vendor and this product. I am very impressed with both.

Let me start by saying I really do love this stick....now. When I received mine I was very pleased with the look and feel of the cane however i did run into some issues with the one screw holding the hame on. Within 2-3 days the screw came loose and after re tightening it did so again. I even went so far as to use an expanding wood glue to help prevent it but to no avail.I am quite handy so I chose to modify the design a bit and use the second hole drilled in the hame to place a small diameter bolt (stainless for looks) and an acorn cap nut (chrome). Believe me when I say that two of those through the original hole and "extra" hole and that hame has nowhere to go now. I also took the opportunity to make the cane itself more unique. I chose to sand down the varnish and bark that was on mine and gently tinted the wood a nice light red color. Coupled with the chrome hame and bolts it look really stunning now. Not to say I was unhappy with the look but I just went a bit nuts with it.The only of quibble (TINY ONE) was the lovely made in India sticker that fell from the hame itself upon removal. Not really complaining but it is touted in such a way that you expect it to be a 100% American product, unless I missed something.I took away only one star due to the screw issue. Otherwise I am very pleased with it.

The handle was delivered very loose. Just not a good fit on the cane.

The unfortunate reality is that I have to have a cane. Even though this situation is temporary, walking assistance is an absolute. So, I figured, if you have to have a stick it might as well be attractive. The shaft is rough cut treated hardwood and I chose the chrome grip. The grip reminds me of a replacement hip piece or a gearshift knob, but it is comfortable enough. When compared to the mass produced metal versions that are available it is certainly more attractive. My complaint lies with the attachment of the handle. It is held into place with a single wood screw. There are two additional machined holes for other screws but they were not utilized. My recovery process has resulted in the loss of several pounds, but I still weigh nearly 250. I am concerned that the handle will disconnect and a fall will occur.

Really beautiful looking cane but not as practical as one would want. Use it for dress up occasions but not for serious walking.

As a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel I was with Special Forces. I made numerous parachute jumps, and as a result have had many "parts" replaced/repaired. I walk with a cane and a friend had bought me a cane very similar to these years ago. The one my friend gave me had the "Gold Handle" (actually a horses bridal Hame). I decided to purchase the Silver version. When it arrived I was surprised at the diameter on the Hickory. The one my friend had given my was approximately 1 1/2" in diameter. The new one came in and it was at least 2 1/2"s in diameter. This cane is a Beast! I made a modification to the new cane; I drilled two holes thru the handle in a crosswise pattern and secured the Hame to the Hickory with two bolts/nuts and washers. This took all the play out of the handle and I even did the same to my old Gold handled cane which had a little play in the Hame. My Lord, I have been carrying the new cane for about a week, and the reactions I get from people who see it all comment how nice it is. I would definitely recommend this cane to any one who is able to carry a heavy cane. I am 6' 0" and weigh 250. I am still in great shape (35 years of working out has sure paid off...I can carry the cane with no problem). I am ordering the Gold one very soon because I want the Matching set.

Excellent product. Many ask me about it as it is a very unique walking stick. Only reason it didn't get a 5 is I wish there were sizing/length options. If length options were available I must have missed it when I placed the order. The one I have is a little short but will be passed down someday.

I ordered this for my godfather who gets around with a walker and on occasion, with my assistance, a cane. He is a classy old man who is very particular about quality in everything. I admire this in him though it makes it that much more of a challenge to impress, and on the flip side its that much more of a thrill when I do. Thanks to this cane, Ive done it!Great, solid piece of work has a wonderful, tight feel to it, like it could really take the years well, and it looks really good!This is what I love about quality hand made stuff :)
