Worked
The check engine light on my 2007 Nisan Xterra popped up. Had a mechanic take a look, and he reported that it was something in the evaporation system. He then offered to do a smoke test for $100 to find the cause, which I declined, and requested the system code. After doing some Google-Fu I learned that after about 40,000 miles of normal use (I was at about 41k when the light went on) the this part of 2007 Nissan Xterra tends to get stuck in the open position due to buildup. Ordered the part, had a mechanic replace it for about $80; I tried to do it myself but was having a hell of a time getting to it, so I caved. About 75 miles later I used a bluetooth ODBII reader and my cellphone to check the computer, the evap system check completed without errors. If you live in the city/burbs and don't do much off-roading keep the old one, clean it up, and use it the next time this happens; in another 40,000 miles! If you do go off-roading you can install the filtered system. More expensive up front but the issue shouldn't reoccur.4/15/2016 EDIT: Just a follow-up for anyone wondering. It has been 30K miles and nearly 4 years since this was installed and no issues have come up.

2004 Infiniti G35 Check Engine P0455
So I got a check engine light on my G35 last week. Only comes about when my fuel tank has a quarter tank left. P0455 is some Evap Leak. There are two components potential causing this light - one on the passenger rear and one in the front. This seems to be the more common failures from reading on line. I have used Doorman products in the past and they are good for generic parts. Since I have over 100K miles on my car, I dont want to spend more on genuine infiniti parts.....The change is very easy. The part located on the rear passenger side. You dont need to jack the car up but you will need to lay down on your back. There are 4 bolts (10MM) that holds the cover in place. Once you are off, you will see the part in front of the canister box. You can pull the rubber hose off and the electric plug, you will have to press the tab hard enough and pull the plug out. Once you have the electrical wire and the Hose out, you rotate the entire valve counter clock wise 90 degrees and wiggle it out.

Solved my problem - along with charcoal canister
Got this for an 08 Nissan Xterra. Was throwing a P0456 CEL, had a fuel fume smell around filler spout, and gas pump would easily click off long before tank was full. Got this valve with the EVAP charcoal canister and replaced both at the same time. All problems are gone now. It's a tight space to work when replacing, and if your connections have been on for awhile - good luck! But it can be done, and is definitely DIY vs paying maybe $1000-$2000 for a dealer or shop to do it.

The light is off.
My check engine light is off! For me I had code p1446, if you have a different code, this gadget might still do the fix for you. It's my understanding there's multiple codes that can be thrown from this guy being messed up.My wife's check engine light was illuminated on her 2004 Nissan Sentra, we pulled the code and did a bunch research. There's not a lot of info on replacing this guy so i'll tell you what I did here. It's my understanding that the EVAP system is the same/ similar on other Nissan sedans. I accept no responsibility for your outcomes and you should know how to be safe working on a car if you're going to perform this. I am not an auto professional. Just someone like you who doesn't want to pay the dealer $400 for this to be fixed. The evap box, for me was a black box on the back drivers side of the vehicle. I jacked up the car and was able to get to it laying down and from behind the back drivers wheel. There's a mud cover and a bolt holding the box in place. Most people drop the box, but my bolt was frozen so i left the box in place, removed the mud cover and worked from behind the wheel. Simply pull the hose and wiring harness off. the harness has a catch and won't simply tug off without being released. You might know that this guy has to do with your fuel. I didn't notice any fumes or gas to be concerned about. To remove the canister simply turn counter clockwise. It's pretty fickle about coming off in the right position. Mine needed to be turned about 1/8th (10-11 o' clock position). Going back in i needed to put it in the same position as when it was removed. There was two marks on the "black box" which guided me with the right position to put it back in. If you don't have the marks you should be fine, the idea it to just reassemble everything back the way you found it.

Received Defective Unit...
Fit and quality appeared as good as genuine OEM. Unfortunately the reliability of the unit I received wasn't.My OEM unit failed after 110,000mi and 8 years of service (which isn't particularly great for a simple valve either). This Dorman unit fixed my SES/MIL lamp issue for 3 weeks before it appeared again today.I initially suspected something else in the EVAP circuit (e.g. cracked/broken hose, dust causing valve to stick) but it all checked out.Valve is either stuck or the solenoid has failed.I may give it another chance if I can't find an alternate replacement that is reasonably priced. Will update if I try it again and have better luck.

Looks and Weighs Same as Original, Third the Cost, Still Working After One Year
This review is actually for a Dorman 911-503 I purchased from Rockauto.com a year ago. This part looks and weighs the same as the original (a good sign). It is a bit of a pain to get at since it is up in between the spare tire well and gas tank of my 2005 Nissan Altima. It was installed at 221,145 km June 14, 2015 and is still working fine. The Dorman 911-503 I purchased from amazon.ca recently is a spare and was a better deal than Rockauto's. The first Vapor Canister Purge Valve was replaced under warranty at 28,051 km May 18th, 2006. At a third the cost of Nissan's ($150.00CAD) I'd still be happy if this Dorman part lasts only five years instead of ten. Time will tell. Nissan's part 14935-AM60A can fail after one year or ten. If you have a DTC P0455 code, this likely is the culprit, but a bad gas cap can cause the same code.

Fits like the original
The item was exactly as advertised. There was the another proper item for 20 bucks more but I waited using the free shipping. Took about 2 weeks, not the 2 months Amazon said. Well worth the wait!

Dorman 911-503 to solve Nissan code P0456
Product solved my check engine light, code P0456, on my 2004 sentra. I'm very happy with this purchase as it was the lowest total cost overall(part + transportation). I used the low cost transport as I was not in a hurry and it took 10 days from BC to QC. Would definitely buy again from CanadaAutoSupply.
