No. That is where the child sees thru.

Would this work with glasses?

Probably if the child's head is not on the large side. It is a very cool toy. The voice is masked when the child speaks.

how do you change the batteries?

Hi, Jen.Look inside the helmet, and you'll see some tabs connecting the back and front of the mask. Free these tabs (gently use a little prying force, like your fingertips or a butter knife) and pull the back away from the front. At the top of the front part of the helmet you'll see the battery door. Use a phillips head screwdriver to remove it, and you'll see the batteries.
