This pump gets LOUD
The Pond Boss pump came with my 350 Lb cast fountain. The pump sits in the pool and pumps water to the spigot 3' high. The cord goes out through a split rubber plug and to replace the pump, the heavy fountain has to be turned on it's back and rubber plug hammered out to release the cord. The original pump worked a month and then made a racket. Instead of a peaceful waterfall sound there was a grinding sound like mashing gears. The pump was easily taken apart and there didn't seem to be any dirt and the rotor works by induction so it floats in the water as it spins but the sound wouldn't stop. I ordered another Pond Boss pump from Amazon and this made noise as soon as I turned it on(under water of course). The problem must be that the rotor is unbalanced or the armature winding isn't secure. I returned it and found another pump from Amazon. I'll review it after a month.

Four Years Non-Stop
Ours ran non-stop for four years. Quiet and maintenance-free. Am buying another one today. Fours years non-stop. That's a lot from a $19 pump.

Yikes! that's LOUD!!
the pumps were so loud inside the pond that I could hear them easily. This is a 40 gal container pond. I have had it for 14 yrs and never has a pump been this loud. Tried to return but it was too late. I will not use it, the sound will stress and kill the fish.

Decent for the price
So far havent had problems with it. I keep it running in my aquaponic tank to get water up to my grow bed. One thing i would suggest for the manufacturers is to put bigger suction cups or better ones. They stick on the side of my tank but not on the bottom which would take up less space in my tank and make it look better. But the fish dont seem to mind it. Infact they like to hide under it sometimes, and they occasionally come by and suck on it trying to clean it. Havent owned this pump long enough to know how long itll last, but no problems so far

Absolute Junk - Went Through Three Of Them In Two Weeks
If I could give this a negative star review I would.Went through three of these - they are complete junk.Application was in a miniature decorative pond that is roughly 18" x 18" x 12" Height to feed a small water feature via 3/8" tube was 12 inches - total line length of about 3 feet. The pump was in a state of failure from the first moment plugged in. The pump was loud, fighting pressure coming back down through the line.So assuming that something in the water feature was narrow or restrictive, I replaced the feature with a bell fountain, 3/8" with about 7" of height to push. The next morning we came out and found half the water gone - the pump was still submerged. Couldn't figure out why. Pump still making noises against the pressure coming back down against the impeller.Exchanged the pump concluding it was bad. The second showed up and was worse. This one made horrific noises the moment it was plugged in and lasted less than 12 hours.Exchanged that one. The third one could not keep even pressure, suddenly exploding and sending water everywhere (hence why the water level was dropping) and then making terrible noises and not being able to push the water.I then concluded it wasn't the original water feature, it wasn't the required height lift on 3/8" line, it wasn't the Pond Boss fountain accessory kit I got designed specially for this pump. No. It is because these pumps are steaming piles of you know what.I wouldn't buy another product made by the parent company Pond Boss if my life depended on it.
