You will most likely need to make modifications
I bought this Panasonic microwave from Home Depot but they did not sell the recommended trim kit. So I bought it here on Amazon and it fit just fine. Installation is super easy even though the instructions are lacking. They just give pictures with minimum instructions (my wife said that's because guys don't read instructions anyways). Unless your opening is exactly the same size as the trim kit, you will most likely need to make some modifications to your opening.Jump ahead in the instruction to where you install the mounting pins into the trim. Now measure the distance between the pins from side to side. Then measure the distance between the pins from top to bottom. Now, install the four corner bracket mounts into your opening (it's only 2 screws each). Once you have them installed, measure the distance from the center of the hole in the mount to the center of the hole in the other mount from top to bottom, and from side to side. Make sure those measurements match the ones you took from pin to pin installed on the trim. You can be off by a small margin (no more than 1/8th because the tabs that go in the mounting bracket have a little wiggle room. My width was fine but my height was off so I had to cut out an extra 1/2 inch across the top. After that, the trim snapped right in.You ARE going to have a gap around the trim. It's not made to fit snug. I suppose that's for 2 reasons. First, this trim fits multiple models. Second, if it fit too sung, when you opened the door, it would bind against the side and most likely bend the trim.Overall, I'm pretty happy with the look. I would have preferred something solid looking but those slots are how it vents.

Fits Well, Looks Nice
Relatively easy to install, fit well and looks. There are two minor issues: (1) took me awhile to figure out how to fold the duct and (2) needed a couple more pieces of tape, but duct tape worked fine. The key, of course, is to get a good cutout. The price is very reasonable compared to others, especially considering it comes with a vent duct. Make sure to wear gloves when handling the metal.

Looks nice but terrible installation design
This trim kit is good manufacture quality and looks good when installed. But beware...if the cabinet holding your microwave is not precisely the size indicated for installation you will not be able to install the kit as specified. This is because the hangers for the trim frame plug into receptacles that must be installed in precise locations at each corner of the cabinet hole. If the hole is the wrong size you can't attach the recepticles in their proper location and the frame won't hang as designed. I had to chuck the hangers and design my own hanging method using wood blocks and drilling small holes into the frame edges. Further, the frame comes with a sheet metal baffle that is intended to be fixed to the microwave side vents and direct exhaust forward (from side to the front) - so moisture won't build up in the cabinet. This adds to the microwave's dimensions and presents another problem if the cabinet dimensions are smaller than specified in the trim kit directions. Worst yet, the sheet metal baffle is supposed to attach to the microwave using one of the appliance's rear screws, per the directions. But these screws are tamper-proof, requiring a specialized torx driver to remove or tighten. I had to eliminate the baffle as I could not attach it. Needless to say whoever designed this trim kit ought to go back to engineering school for remedial training. The design is awful!

Install is not easy
After our small microwave gave out, I bought this Panasonic Inverter Microwave on sale at a big box store. The challenge was to find the stainless steel trim piece online. The model numbers were not exactly the same from one site to the next. I was concerned that it might not match the trim piece around the oven below and/or the space around the microwave would be too large. I was surprised to discover the trim piece cost more than the microwave itself. It took my husband 4 hours to install. The cabinet opening had to be enlarged which took most of the time. That part of the install is critical. It's very important that the opening is the correct size in order for the clips to fasten correctly. Would be nice if the fasteners were adjustable to retrofit the cabinet, but they're not - (something for the manufacturer to think about). All in all, I think it turned out great. The stainless steel is a good match and the gap is minimal. The vents are necessary because the microwave puts out more heat than our old microwave did.HELPFUL HINT: Layout your microwave and all the parts of the trim kit on your counter, as if you are putting it together... like a practice trial run. It will help you understand how it all fits together. Especially when you're working in the small cut out in the wall, while on a step stool. A special thanks to my husband -- thank you sweetheart, it looks great.

2nd time installing one of these
I have paired this with a NN-SN96JS microwave. Unfortunately your options are very limited in the market if you want to do a 2.2cuft with a trim kit and Panasonic is one of them. Yes, the gaps are as in the pictures of most reviews, so do not expect better. Your cabinet opening must be as given in the manuals. But you can always be creative and trim/add whenever possible to place those 4 brackets to match the pins of the trim. Also if the opening height is lower than given in the specs, you will not be able to put the microwave in with the heat shield installed.

expensive, bad directions
Directions seem to instruct you to make reverse of the folds you need to in the stainless sheet. I'd recommend just looking at the finished product diagram and making the obvious folds to make it look like that instead of trying to follow the arrows.Cost is outlandish - Its almost as much as the microwave itself. But this seems to be standard for pretty much all microwaves, and I don't want to try to DIY it. Looks alright installed (of course like all stainless it instantly shows fingerprints)

Not recommend to buy
I agree with other purchaser comments, if your cabinet size is not exactly match, do not buy, it is not returnable. here is my storyDecide to upgrade my kitchen appliance, built in Microwave is first one, search Amazon and find this product looks like similar with what I have, I verified the measurement, however when I received the product, I found it is so hard for installation because my cabinet WxH does not match with product requirement for installation, actually there is no way to install the bracket. decide to return it#1 Try to create return label, it tells this item is not returnable, go back to product detail, it says "Eligible for Refund or Replacement", you need move your cursor to show this item is non- returnable, this is first time for me to know Amazon has some items seller mark not returnable.#2, Since it is not able to return, decide to figure out how to install it, apparently installation guide does not work for me, there is no place to install 90 degree brackets in my case, so I have to cut them to flat bracket, and then found there is no template paper help me to find the accurate position to install brackets, so I have to do my own measurement, eventually I am able to do it ( you will take you own risk if you follow my installation to install yours, I am not responsible for your damage or loss)#3, After successfully installed, and found the frame and microwave oven does not match perfect, although package recommended by Panasonic store, spaces in all 4 sides of microwave oven, has to do my best to balance those space up/down, left/right.#4, the price is too expensive with few piece of mental, the profit is huge, but poor service and bad installation with brackets#5, the product has design defect, which you can see my old white frame the inner side is 120 degree which can cover spaces between frame and microwave oven, I thought my old one is Panasonic, but actually it is Whirlpool(unfortunately, product is discontinued), you can see the old frame installation uses 4 screws in corner, Panasonic can definitely improve its product by reducing the 4 sides spaces and installation, at least provide paper template to find accurate position to install bracket, provide flat bracket instead of 90 degrees bracket only, and also refer to Whirlpool design, extend vent to left/Right border, it can hide screw for installation like Whirlpool

Mounting clips break off easily
I agree with the other reviews about the cut out needing to be exact for you to mount the faceplate clios. The clips have little flexibility, and if they don’t line up, the clips won’t insert into each other, therefore not making the faceplate able to mount correctly on all four corners. If you try to force the faceplate into the mounting clips theses plastic clips will break. So for me this is a design flaw and would definitely not recommend for retrofit installations for this reason.

DO NOT BUY!!!!!!
This is garbage. The materials it is constructed of are extremely poor quality and although the dimensions of my cabinet opening were compatible with those in the product specifications, it did not fit. YOU CANNOT RETURN THIS ITEM. Also, the manufacturer link provided by Amazon for Panasonic customer support does not work. Overall, a really poor experience. Amazon customer service washed their hands of assisting in any way, and I’m out over $500.
