PanasonicNN-TK922SS 27-inch Trim Kit for 2.2 cu ft Microwave Ovens, 27 inch, Stainless Steel

I give 5 stars for the finished product. But the instructions were sketchy and the installation was a challenge. This trim kit is designed to fit the Panasonic NN-SN9665 microwave. Be SURE you match the right serial numbers of the microwave and the trim kit - a number of customers complained about mismatches. My biggest complaint is the pathetic attempt to save a buck by having the customer bend a flat piece of sheet metal into the shape of a vent and attach it to the oven. The bend lines are identified by perforations but you can easily bend them the wrong way, creating a vent that doesn’t fit! Yep, I did that and had to rebend the thing into the right shape hoping it wouldn’t break because the 180-degree stress. Then you are instructed to tape…yes tape the flanges of the vent to the microwave! No tape provided, so I tried electrical tape which I could see was inadequate so then used strapping tape. Conquered. But we’re not done with this vent yet. As we (it took two of us) tried to plug in and get the unit into the cabinet opening (exactly 27”x17-3/8” as instructed) that dad gum vent got in the way! Fortunately the interior space was bigger than the cut-out opening so we were able to wedge the left side of the unit to get it in and onto the kit platform. Another half inch added to the height dimension would be tempting, but then the corner brackets wouldn’t fit right for the trim piece! I recommend bending that vent flatter. It’s just taped anyway with one screw in the back. Final look - fantastic! Matches our gas oven perfectly. I suppose that vent does it’s job but I hope the engineers would do a better job on new iterations of that stupid vent! We have a much larger cavity than the opening and I was tempted to leave it off - it probably would have been fine. But a tight fit could be a problem with heat and moisture. All said it looks great!

I installed this with the purchase of the Panasonic NN-SD975S, which is a great unit so far (only been a week). The kit was easy to install... directions are images.. but it's common sense on how to install this. The frame, at first, looks too big for the microwave, but after installing it and understanding you need a little open space for the door to swing into, it looks fine. The photo they show looks like the frame fits tight around the unit, but it doesn't, which is normal. So, don't freak out when you put it up to the microwave at first. Once you install it, it looks great, even with the 1/2"-3/4" openings on each side and about 1/4" at the top and bottom. It's the way is should be.

I bought this trim kit when replacing our whirlpool microwave with a best in class Panasonic microwave. I had seen the negative reviews and thought figured I'd just have to bite the bullet and install the trim kit since we were replacing an older microwave that was also installed with a trim kit.In short: the installation manual leaves much to be desired, and you really need the dimensions listed for the kit to work. Our cabinet actually had a couple extra inches on all sides inside, bit the opening matched the requirements. As shown in my photo, I'm not sure how anyone can install this kit without having this extra room. For the final step, I had to leave off the top trim brackets, push the microwave all the way back, install the top trim brackets and then lift the microwave up over the metal riser which it became caught on from resting on it prior.If I hadn't wasted time searching for an installation video and triple checking all my measurements (where I found the cabinet opening was actually slightly uneven on either side), I could have had this installed in a couple hours. As it was, it took me five. And I hope it lasts so I don't have to do it again anytime soon!

Be careful. This does not fit every Panasonic 2.2 cft microwave, even all those with a model number starting with 9 as it appears from the description! Be sure to call Panasonic to confirm it will work if your microwave is not one of those SPECIFICALLY listed.The clips to hold it in are convenient if you ever need to take the microwave out for repair ( much easier than other trim kits) but not particularly sturdy, and not available separately if one breaks.They have a limited space they will work to cover and the 30" is only wider, not higher, so we really had to finesse it to make it cover our large opening.Everything others say about the left side venting is true - it's large and gets in the way of the clip so from an engineering perspective that's a fail.There will be a slight gap on each side when properly installed, even with a 975 model for which it's designed.Our installer was awesome and took every challenge in stride but Panasonic made this a tricky and lengthy install.You'll see the left vent in the end so it's a good idea to put black tape over that left vent to hide it when you put it on the microwave.Ultimately I like that this will probably fit another Panasonic in the same size range, and a new microwave, if this one fails, will be easy to change out with the clip system on this trim, but it was definitely an effort!

Très contente de mon achat.Prix est de quelques dollars de moins que dans les magasins mais la livraison est plus rapide.

This very nice trim for my microwave did not fit. I returned it to Amazon 2 weeks ago (September 17/20) but have not been refunded. My new microwave oven from Amazon is fine and it is installed here in my kitchen. However, the communication from Amazon shows that I have returned IT. Please remedy this situation, Amazon, and refund to me the cost of tje microwave trim kit which I HAVE returned.

This is probably a good option if you are doing a new kitchen build, buy the microwave and trim kit in advance, and then order your cabinets after you read the instructions for the trim kit. Otherwise, expect a challenge as others have mentioned. I was replacing a microwave and trim kit in an existing 27" cabinet and while the width was correct, you need exactly 17 3/8" height between the bottom shelf and the top one to mount the brackets. Once you install the brackets, don't expect to just slide that microwave in. you're going to need to remove that top left one to cram it in with the extra exhaust vent you need to attach to the top of the microwave and remount the bracket last. Overall it works, just a bit of challenge if you don't have a lot of tools.
