Will this work while it is being charged?

Yes it does, I just plugged it into a usb port on my comp AND a stand alone charger and it played while plugged into both. The previous one I had (MW600 I think) did not operate while being charged... I have this one paired with an iogear BT transmitter to my comp. This "gateway" has been far more reliable than the MW600 and has longer battery life, I would guesstimate 2x. From my personal experience though the range seems somewhat shorter than the MW600, in the real world I get about 50 feet with 2 insulated walls between, which I guess is pretty good.

Can we use this for jogging or working out?

The wireless signal goes about 25 to 30 feet for me, u can use the earbuds for working out as long as your iPod or speaker is in that range. It comes with 3 different sizes of ear pieces, they fit pretty snug

It has standard earphones jack. The earphones comes along with this set has little bit short wires than regular earphonee wires as bluetooth is places either on top of shirt or collar. If you want to connect any other earplugs, yes you can.

Does the digital display and/or other Sony options play nicely with other devices like the iPhone?

I would not know about iPhone compatibilty, it does play nicely with my non-Sony Android phone.
