Wonderful!!
I suffer from occasional plantar fasciitis. I used to have it much worse & for an extended length of time when I was teaching, but since I've stopped teaching, it's gotten much better. Sometimes I can go weeks or months without having any problems. I tend to go barefoot a lot at home & I know that causes it to flare up. When I had it really bad, I tried to wear a boot designed to help and I hated that. I couldn't sleep in it at all. These arch huggers have been wonderful! When I start having heel pain, I slip it on & wear it for a few days. I only have problems with my right foot, so I only wear one arch hugger. I have been using the same pair (one at a time) for almost a year without any problems. I haven't had any issues with loose stitching as other reviewers have indicated. I like that it's thin so I can wear it with socks & shoes if I need to. Usually I just wear it without any shoes at all - it allows me to continue walking around barefoot with it. Or with my flip flops. I have large, wide feet so I ordered the Large size and it fits well. **Update: My original arch supports have worn out, so I just purchased my second pair. They lasted a very long time before I needed to replace them. These are my favorite arch support items!

Surprisingly effective!
I was hesitant to buy these, because I didn't really think they could be THAT effective. After all, it's just a kindof glorified ace bandage, right? I am very pleasantly surprised at how much these relieve my foot pain. I got them to wear barefoot around the house, when I don't have my in-shoe arch supports to keep my arches from collapsing. The constant pressure against the arch is surprisingly comfortable and sortof soothing to the arch muscles. I have started wearing these all the time, even when wearing shoes. Helps when your feet are not bearing weight during the day to still keep those muscles supported. I find that I have less edema in my foot by the end of the day when I wear these (though I can't wear it overnight or it actually causes quite a bit of edema - have to keep your feet moving to keep your veins flowing, especially with a restriction bandage). My foot measured as the large size, but I got the medium because that just didn't seem right. My feet are wide, but not THAT big (I'm a 5'3" petite woman with unfortunately-sized feet, but not a 6' tall man!). I do think the medium size is right for my foot - if in doubt, I'd say get 2 sizes and return one if necessary. My only concern is that, as others have said, the stitching at the ends of the seams is starting to get loose. Not yet causing any structural loss, but I can see it happening in the future. however, I also don't see a way to avoid that, unless they can manufacture them in tubes rather than strips. They're so cheap, I really wouldn't mind buying more though. They're more than worth the money!

Foot Smart arch Huggers
I received this in great time. I've been dealing with planters factitious on one foot and cannot go bare footed and need to wear special inserts in my shoes and a night splint at night along with a medicated patch for 12 hours at night. I got these supports to try for when I'm laying around on the recliners or the couch because when I get up its when my foot would hurt. It seems to be working as my foot doesn't seem to hurt as much when I have this on. I have a very narrow foot and wear a size 8-8 1/2 and got a med and its ok but think a small would have been better. Seems to be holding up fine as I've had it on each evening and sometimes on the weekends. I put it over a ped or stocking because I should have gotten a smaller size. I was told I can stop wearing the night splint in a couple of months and think I will probably wear this to bed after that to make sure the pain doesn't come back. I also got the ok to wear special sandals for planters factitious and I wear this with them for extra support too. I would recommend it if you have planters factitious and want to reduce your pain.

Product description and size guidelines are way off
When I first bought this item, Amazon didn't have it in stock, so I bought it through Amazon from the vendor, FootSmart. The reviews of sizing indicated that the guidelines were off, but having measured my arch as 9.25" it seemed prudent to buy the size that was supposed to fit. Wrong. This size provided no support whatsoever, fit like a loose sock. So added to the insult of guidelines that were wrong, FootSmart made me pay for return shipping and INSURANCE. I contacted FootSmart to ask about free return, but they said they only provided that if the size ordered was not that supplied, and that their poor product guidelines were not something they would compensate for. I spoke with Amazon customer service about my dealings with this company, and they credited my account for the difference.I ordered the smaller size, which by then was available from Amazon, and therefore had free shipping. The product does provide a small amount of support for the arch and does make some difference to the way my foot feels after activity. It does not compare to the support I got when a physical therapist taped my arch, but it is a small aid in the healing process for plantar fascia problems, which seem to take about 12 months to abate, with or without therapy.I urge anyone considering purchasing this item to buy it only if Amazon itself is the supplier, since they have great customer service, and FootSmart most certainly does not.

Exactly what I expected
I have been rehabbing a foot injury (along with an arch which keeps wanting to collapse) for 8 months. Now that the main problem is my arch, and I don't want to spend $300 for custom orthodics that I will probably hate and find uncomfortable (been there years ago, done that), I was looking for an economical solution and this seems to be it. I put one only on my bad foot, just for when I take a walk, it goes under my sock. It really does stabilize my foot and make my limp/walk much more comfortable. However, it is very, very tight. The reason I don't wear it around all day is the fear of doing something to my circulation. I got the small size, my shoe is 7 to 7.5 normally. Because these are not expensive, I recommend trying them!
