Absolute Heirloom!
I'm new to tofu in an attempt be healthier and to be kinder to animals and the environment. I've tried cooking tofu a few times in the past with lackluster results. I never knew about pressing tofu to allow maximum flavor enhancement. Wow. What a difference. Tofu itself is flavorless IMHO, but when you press the water content out of it and then cook it or marinate it before cooking it, it readily absorbs the flavors in your dish. And this tofu press is the absolute BEST and worth the money! Made in the USA, which is important to me, it is incredibly well made - heavy, tough and virtually indestructible. It will provide many years of use, and using it simple and easy. It presses tofu quickly, effectively removing all extra liquid in about 15 minutes. No screws, springs, hinges or other breakable parts. Washing it after use is super easy. I couldn't be happier. Also, Raw Rutes is a fabulous company that provides excellent customer service. I love supporting them. Definitely worth the splurge.

I'm in love!
I did my research, and I am very pleased with the product I received. Sure, you are spending a lot of money when you could buy a cheap, plastic press for a quarter of the price, but you are buying something that will last through years and years of use. I think you will be able to put this in your will and pass it down to the next generation of your family! There are no springs to break, no plastic to crack, and no plastic to touch your food! This is a well-built, simple little contraption. Handmade in the United States, the quality shows, and you will be supporting a homegrown company of artisans. I ordered the Sumo. There is no difference between it and the less expensive version. I just loved the aesthetic of the Sumo, so I spent the extra money to enjoy looking at the extra detail! If you are more utilitarian than I, then don't bother, but I love the artistic touch. Be aware that when your small box arrives, it will be very heavy. I have used this tofu press three times already, and it really did work after only 15-30 minutes of pressing. I am very pleased, and I am in love! Don't think about the cost. Order one, and give another as a gift to your favorite vegetarian.

Great press for tofu
This does an amazing job with a block of tofu. It takes the hassle out of getting the moisture out of your tofu. Very well built and constructed from stainless steel. (Well more than makes up for the price.) It is very easy to clean. The only drawback would be that the knob on the handle is plastic.

Great investment if you want to avoid plastic!
Expensive, but I love it, and it was worth it for me! Just the right size for a block of grocery store tofu, easy to use, easy to clean, and looks great on the counter, too. Pro-tip based on looking at the other reviews: This thing isn't designed for you to literally press down on it. That will just crack the tofu. Instead, you just set the weight on the tofu block and walk away. This is purely a gravity-based press. Basically, if you're used to pressing tofu with kitchen towels and a cast iron pan or stack of books, this press will have the same effect. It won't be faster -- It will do the same thing as any weight, only more neatly and without the need for paper towels or kitchen towels. A plastic spring-loaded model might press the tofu faster. But, the tradeoff is, it's plastic. If you want to avoid plastic, you won't do better than this gadget! Possible negative: It doesn't come with any kind of plate or tray to catch the water as it drains from the tofu. You'll need to set it on a plate or dish. I kinda wish it had been designed with its own little tray underneath that you could just empty! I do miss the convenience of just being able to drain the water off the top of the plastic model. But aside from that, I couldn't be happier with it!

Works great, premium, sketchy shipping
Mine came with a dent in one of the feet, of it weren’t for that I’d give it a 5 star. The box it came in was damaged, but maybe that’s just at the fault of the delivery, if it weren’t for the bent foot making it lopsided, it would be perfect

Tofu Perfection
So, so, SO much easier than my old tofu press! Just drop the tofu in and put the weight on top. No need to keep coming back to tighten screws or springs or whatever. And it's incredibly easy to clean; literally all I do is rinse it. It presses tofu quickly, too. It takes a half hour to an hour for quite dry tofu, versus an hour to an hour and a half with my old wing-nut-operated contraption that needed constant babysitting. It isn't inexpensive, and it isn't an absolute necessity, but if you cook with tofu a lot, as my family does, it's totally worth the money. This thing is heavy and well-made, and it will no-doubt last several lifetimes.
