Excellent SVG book for all*
Great insights into SVG. Be aware that not all browsers support all features this is ALL browsers so bashing IE11 isn't fair since even Chrome, Safari and Firefox have their caveats as well... you just need to know how to work around them. So depending what browser you are targeting will determine what works and what doesn't BUT the book covers SVG and does an excellent job at it. I highly encourage all web developers to learn SVG it will make web sites you build on work (with thought and consideration) perform better and look better. Using Eisenberg's book will aide you in becoming an expert in SVG and adding another skill into your toolbox of skills. This book is for all level of programmers; however, newer and less experienced developers might encounter hurdles if they try to implement code directly into any given browser from the book. For instance IE11 (a lot of business are still using Win 7) you can not use the SVG animate you will need to animate via CSS3 or JavaScript.

This book is well written and informative. The author ...
This book is well written and informative. The author has not only mastered SVG but also taught it. This shows in the text as the author anticipates which parts of the spec you will have trouble understanding and which are plain sailing.I had a lot of AHA experiences and I feel this book will greatly accelerate the learning of SVG. The book is also woefully complete despite the word 'essentials' in the title.

Good book, bad Kindle version
Reasonably thorough and accessible introduction to SVG. The chapters about basics are good, but those about interactivity and the DOM could be clearer.Kindle version is quite bad in iPad and in the browser-based reader. Some code examples and table layouts get unreadable. My recommendation is to get the print book instead.
