I've been reading this series and watching it for about six years now, I think, and I've enjoyed every moment of it. The thing about Skip Beat is that in some ways its a really different kind of shojo manga. A lot of shojos spend all their energy focusing on trying to force these two people together, or make a character choose between two guys or two girls... and yes, Skip Beat has some of that, but there is so much more in it too. You see, there's a real substance to both of the characters who are involved in the relationship. It takes a couple people who have a mutual hate for each other upon meeting, and as we see them both grow into better people, we also see their relationship grow and change as well. We also see their careers change and grow. Over time, they become real friends and really fall for each other actually. The more time that passes, the more they learn about each other, the more cemented that bond becomes. And what's great about this series is that it doesn't just focus on the problems of the main character or the male lead, it focuses on both of their problems (and they are very real issues, not just teenage worries blown out of proportion). They give each other the strength to overcome their demons. Another thing that makes this manga/anime series great is the fact that they don't only rely on each other. It shows that each of them have a network of friends that they are close to and can confide in. Each of these friends has a unique personality, and we understand them all. They even have their own issues, which can become minor details driving the story forward. I've never read a shojo series that spent so much of its time making us understand and fall in love with supporting characters. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever read a manga where the leading male love interest had a best friend who was both single and completely uninterested in making the female lead his own lover, while shipping his best friend together with her (and when I say he ships them together, I mean he SHIPS. THEM. TOGETHER.). Equally astonishing is the fact that Kyoko also has a best friend that likes to ship her with Ren--even though she's much quieter about it. In fact, I believe anyone who knows them and cares about them, kind of ships them together. But let me just say how also uncommon it is in any manga for several women to appear socially reserved and still likable. Normally they're chatterboxes, crazed gossipers, or spend all their efforts on trying to steal the attention of any man that moves. Anyone who reads manga regularly can probably relate to this. When it comes to this, Skip Beat is a breath of fresh air. Now, Skip Beat has its own variety of over-the-top issues that occur, but you're dealing with a bunch of people in the entertainment industry (including a bunch of actors), so a little bit of insanity is expected. This series definitely is pretty long, and it isn't finished yet, so you will need to summon some patience if you start reading this series from the beginning. I can say, though, it's all worth it. This edition is basically the beginning of Kyoko's step into the entertainment industry, and also how she meets and deals with Ren in the beginning. It's also the setup for what drives her throughout the entire series. If you don't have a good laugh at some point during this volume, you have no soul. One of my favorites
I have been reading this series since 2005. I adore the characters, plot, and comedic/romantic tones that it carries. The three volume combination is such a great money saver for me as I have been waiting to own this series for a loooong time now. The quality of the pages are thinner but that doesn't deter away from the art or contrast quality. Please continue with the series 3-in-1 and Yoshiki Nakamura, continue your wonderful work!

great buy!
I wish I had known about the 3-1 books sooner, now I have extra singles. Yes, the pages are thinner and there are no colorful art pages, but I just like having the hard copy prints in my hands to read whenever, so these books are fine with me! Great buy for those who just love the series but would rather spend $12 something instead of $30....

I came across this manga online and I like to reread it so I figured I would just purchase it. I am glad I now have a physical copy! I love the characters and story; I would definitely recommend this manga!!!

Great deal for the price
I mainly bought the 3 in 1 manga for Skip Beat because I love the story and re-read it more than 3 times already. I had always wanted my own copy of the manga but the price of owning all mangas separately was daunting. Not to mention space consuming. The 3 in 1 mangas were perfect because they were very reasonably priced. I've read some reviews that were disappointed by not having colored covers for the other 2 volumes in each set, but having purchased similar 3 in 1 mangas in the past, this did not come as a surprise to me. I would also agree with reviews that point out the decrease in quality of paper used for printing this edition of the manga. The paper they used was thinner compared to the original volumes of Skip Beat and compared to the other 3 in 1 mangas I have purchased. I think this is the only negative point I can say about this edition. Overall, given the price I still think this is a steal. If you are looking to collect this series because you love the story and do not want to spend $200-300+ for the complete set, I would highly recommend purchasing this. The thinness of the pages would stop bothering you after the first 5 pages anyway because by then you would have been sucked into the story.

Great
The 3 in 1 edition is great, especially with the price that Amazon is offering for it. The book is light weight and the pages also feel light which is good because it's easy to flip through. That was one of my concerns because I've read other 3 in 1 books that were hard to read because the pages weren't very flexible. I definitely recommend buying this edition especially if you are looking to collect the whole series (like me) but don't want to pay 10 dollars for each volume.

Un gran manga! Es muy divertido y la calidad del libro es buenísima. Si les gusta el romance ligero y la comedia lo disfrutarán. La historia tiene bastante carnita.

I received this today and I was screaming with joy (Literally)! I have been reading this series online only recently (Like 2 days ago!!) due to many positive reviews. I can honestly say that THIS MANGA is one of the best I have read! Definitely in my top 10 if not top 5. It mixes extremely humorous scenes, but also contains deep meanings and morals (Teaches us about the difficulties of showbiz and how it takes over human compassion and leaves us emotionless; (egotistical and self-centred!) the constant fight between egos almost losing a natural human emotion called 'Love'. Seriously guys this is a MUST BUY!! The story plot, characters' and twists are just.... *KYAAA amazing... I am left speechless only wanting more. This edition contains volume 1, 2 and 3 in other words contains chapters 1-17! Now concerning delivery and packaging etc., I can honestly say the service provided, yet again by Amazon, was SUPERB without fault. No negative comments needed in this area. I decided to try out 'Amazon prime' so I ordered this on the 1st December at 1 AM and received it the following day so the 'one day delivery' promise has been kept. I usually use standard delivery on my previous purchased items and the items usually come 2 days before expected delivery date and sometimes even on Saturdays so WAY TO GO!! Packaging is always immaculate and protects the product extremely well! Easy to open as well... so you won't need any scissors, teeth or claws! On a very final note other reviews have commented about the paper quality stating that it resembles one of a newspaper. I can definitely confirm that the paper is thin, however this does not bother me in the slightest. In fact I personally believe thin paper to suit 3 in 1 edition manga books the best. Most 3 in 1 edition manga books have thick paper making the last pages difficult to read or pages, in general, difficult to flick through. This issue will not occur with this edition! Overall 5/5 stars for product and service. Thank you 'OH SO' very much!
