Perfect for Smoking Salmon
The Nordic Ware Personal Size Stovetop Kettle Smoker has been an incredible addition to my kitchen. Here's why:Great for Smoking Salmon: I primarily use this smoker for smoking salmon with Alder wood, and the results have been consistently fantastic. The flavor it imparts is rich and savory, making every piece of salmon a delight.Versatile Usage: While my main focus has been on salmon, I've also had success smoking vegetables. The smoker handles them well, although it's easy to over-smoke them if you're not careful. A little trial and error, and you'll find the perfect balance.Compact and Efficient: The personal size is perfect for my needs, fitting easily on my stovetop without taking up too much space. It's efficient and gets the job done without requiring a large setup.Durable Construction: The build quality is excellent. It's sturdy and well-made, ensuring it will last for many smoking sessions to come.User-Friendly: It's straightforward to use, even for someone new to smoking foods. The instructions are clear, and the process is simple to follow.Overall, the Nordic Ware Personal Size Stovetop Kettle Smoker is a versatile and reliable tool that has enhanced my cooking. Whether you're a seasoned smoker or just starting out, this smoker is a great investment.

Pretty good, but results are more like steamed meat with some smoke flavor.
The smoker is pretty good. You don't get browned, grilled, smoked results. The food is more like steamed meat etc., with a mild smoked flavoring. Tried salmon - the results were better after the fish was cold, rather than still hot. Beef brisket wasn't great - imparts some smoke flavor but you need to do additional cooking to brown it and make it tender - maybe smoke, then wrapped in the oven for a couple more hours, then browned at higher temp.Spent $80 on the smoker and another $30 on the extension. Probably not worth that amount - if I wasn't in an apartment, a $30 table top Weber grille with indirect heat would provide much better results smoking the food. This is a grille and not some pan that you are going to clean until it is spotless. You can clean the grates pretty well, but the bottom and the catch pan is going to look like a grille that you have burnt wood in. I'm ok with that and expected it.Smoke from the unit isn't bad - dry smoking seems to leave less residual odor in your home than wet smoking.

Great Stovetop Smoker!
I love this smoker! I have three full-size outdoor, electric, and propane smokers. This little baby is fun and works for small quantities of food. My first try was to smoke a brined chicken. It came out deliciously smoked. The learning curve is to check for doneness at the lower end of the temperature guide. This may extend cooking times due to opening the smoker but this is direct heat like an oven and food can overcook. I liked this unit so much that I bought the extender for multilevel cooking, much like a steamer. Please read all the reviews for this smoker. I found that using a wire grill plate rather than the plate that came with this method will keep food from sticking. The plate that came with the smoker is perfect for food that is lower in fat. I also covered the drip plate with foil. This works for cleanup. You also have to keep your eye on the temperature gauge to make sure that the temperature is in a safe range for perfect cooking. This was a smart buy. I can't wait to experiment with other foods.

Works great.
Bought this for myself as a birthday gift. I live in the city, and while I don’t have a yard or space for a full sized smoker, I do have access to an outdoor gas grill. So, my review is for outdoor use only. I will not be using it indoors.I’ve smoked whole chickens on 2 separate occasions. Both were spatchcocked and smoked for about an hour. Result was distinct smokey flavor in the meat and super juicy and moist. For the reviewers who have stated it’s hard to clean or it rusted after they left it out on the counter for a few days, your kitchens must be super special. I mean. Did you even try to wash it? 😂It won’t be pristine. The smoke will definitely stain the underside of the drip pan, so if you’re super precious about outdoor cooking tools, it’s not going to stay perfect.I’ve had no problem cleaning it right up. I use heavy duty aluminum foil to line the drip pan, and I let the smoker tray soak a bit while I’m eating. Then…you actually need to make sure you’ve dried everything off. If you treat something like garbage, it’s going to end up looking like garbage. This is a great piece of equipment and I’ll definitely invest in the extender ring to increase capacity.ETA…I ordered this case for it for carrying and storage. Fits great with enough head room for the extender ring, as well as an outside pocket for containers of wood chips, etc.https://a.co/d/e7XDSP5
