Be very careful cleaning the edges of this!!!
I cannot stress this enough, this is curled metal in the edges. You don't need to clean it. Put your soap away! The edges are sharp as blender blades. I cut the living heck out of my finger trying to run it over the inside lip. This thing is a handy little paint carrier. I can pack everything I need in it and still have more than enough paints in the tube if I need backup. You don't need to get crazy cleaning this thing. Sanitize it and move on. This is my second one and I plan on buying more in the future. It has about a hundred uses.

Bought it for the pretty carp design
I got swept up in the adult coloring craze a few years ago, and for me, the craze never ended because coloring, crafting, and artwork, was always favorite activities since childhood. Coloring led me back into painting, and I started experimenting with different brands of watercolor and gouache paint. I often bought basic sets of tube paint to try, and then mixed other colors from that basic set. Since both watercolor and (to a lesser extent) gouache will rewet, it is convenient to have half pans or whole pans of my color mixtures. Any lidded tin (included re-purposed Altoid tins) will do, along with various traditional metal or plastic paint palettes. However, I just really loved the designs available on these tins, and they already came with the pans and magnet strips. The pans are removable, so you can easily take out any pans you don't need (leaving a space for a travel brush). The lid has a sponge lining to help seal out the air. I noticed if you close the tin while your paint is still wet, they tend to stay moist for a least a few days (depends on the brand and consistency of the paint, though). I usually use my paints at home, but this could be a decent travel tin. I would experiment first with dry and wet paints to see how well the paints do as far as staying in their pans and not sticking to the lid or lid lining before taking it on any real road trip. I would like to order other designs in the future, but right now, I'm pretty flush with paint palettes and tins.

I love this little tin!
I usually prefer to buy off Etsy, but I couldn't resist the variety of cute patterns and reasonable price tag.The magnets attached to the half pans were sturdy, but it was easy enough to remove them and attach them to some pre-existing half pans I needed to store.Another reviewer mentioned a sharp lip that cut their finger, and I found no such lip on the one I bought. (The Outer Space Doodle one). Maybe every pattern is a bit different, but happy to say it seems safe. It was something I was concerned about having kiddos. As soon as I'm done typing this up, I plan to order two more. Just a great little metal tin palette, and love that it comes with 40 empty half pans. Zzz Asa %%

Great
I got this to store my magnetic eyeshadow singles. The ones that weren't magnetic I just added adhesive magnets to the back. The pots that it came with were great too, and I might make some DIY makeup to store in them in the future. I like that the lid is lift-off instead of hinged so I feel like this is very durable.

May arrive dented and difficult to open.
I've purchased three of these. The first one to arrive was awesome, easy to open, great product. The second one just arrived today, and it's a struggle to open. The sides each have small dents and one side creates a very slight V in it. I think these small dents are why it's not opening or closing without a struggle. The third I had ordered before the second one arrived. It's for a friend. I hope it's as good as the first one and nothing like the second one.I'm really disappointed about the second one. It's the wheat field one, and I wanted that one to be my carry-around for watercolors. But it's not useable for that since I can't open/close it without such a struggle.

Received 39 pans not 40
I mean it’s a nice tin and all the only thing tho- is I got 39 pans not 40. I’ve been wanting to use this for awhile now but I became preoccupied with other things and when I opened it, it looked normal (it was arranged in uneven rows and I thought it had all my pans in there) it was only until I looked at the pic on amazon and arranged it as such, I came to find out that it was actually only 39 pans. It’s been so long that I can’t even return it too. Part of its my fault of not checking immediately but it’s also their fault as well. I, luckily didn’t need to full 40 but like I’ll need it eventually once I continue to add up. Honestly it’s a Lil sad.....just take it from me and check immediately, you might regret it later.i haven’t really moved it Around much but they seem like they’re well attached with the magnetic pans. Idk what to say except eh.

Flimsy Metal, Still a Great Buy
Arrived with a small dent that prevented the case from laying flat, but I was able to smooth it out. There's still a small imperfection but it's not a big deal. It's still a great little case and the half pans fit perfectly in my travel palette (Winsor & Newton Cotmaneven Sketcher's Pocket Box) even with the magnetic strips on the backs.A great price for something that's both practical and beautiful!

PERFECT...in EVERY way!
This is PERFECT for my needs! I got the plain silver with 20 full pans. I keep all my watercolors in full pans backed with magnets, organized by color group in a large butcher tray. Once I’ve determined my colors for a project I’ll move those pans to this tin and use my porcelain egg dish for color mixes. Some reviewers mentioned sharp metal edges, and others noted cheap metal and dents in the product, but this was not the case for me. The metal is sturdy, no dents, good quality full size pans...absolutely PERFECT in every way!
