Easy to use, some people complain about the power button and speed knob being in the way, I never had an issue. The vacuum filter is great, it picks up most of the dust. I heard some people complain the unit is too high off whatever you are sanding, not sure why they claim it's an issue, I don't have an issue with that at all. Battery life depends on what you are using, but I recommend having 3 batteries if you have large jobs so you can continuously charge them. It eats through pads fairly quickly. No vibration, and stops quickly once you turn it off. The speed adjustment is great as well. Great value for what you pay.

Yup! Dewalt is good stuff. Works really really well. Dust collector does a very good job.

The DEWALT 20V MAX orbital sander is an excellent tool. It has plenty of power for removing material quickly, but it also runs smooth enough for fine finishing work. The variable speed control is great for dialing it in depending on the job.I love not having to deal with a cord — being cordless makes it easy to move around the shop or job site without fighting extension cords. Battery life is solid, especially with a 4Ah or 5Ah battery, and it swaps discs quickly with the hook-and-loop pad.Dust collection works well when hooked to a vac, and vibration is minimal compared to cheaper sanders. It feels durable and well balanced in the hand.If you’re already in the DeWalt 20V system, this is a no-brainer. Great performance, great build quality, and well worth the money.

I picked up this DEWALT 20V MAX orbital sander in August 2025 to go with the rest of my DEWALT 20V tools, and it’s been a really useful addition. I already own a couple of corded orbitals (including a Bosch that’s my main workhorse), so I’ve been using this mostly when I want portability instead of raw speed.Adjustability & vibration: The variable speed is great when you need to be gentle on a surface or slow things down, and you can turn it up when you want more bite. For the way I work, I usually just want to get material off quickly, and this simply doesn’t spin as fast or cut as aggressively as my corded Bosch. Vibration feels normal for an orbital—comfortable enough, but not some night‑and‑day improvement.Value & dust collection: I got it on a really good sale, and for a cordless tool that can go anywhere, I think the value is solid. This is the sander I toss in a bag and bring to a job site; I’m not dragging cords and extension reels. Dust collection is about what you’d expect: the bag helps, but you’ll still have dust on the workpiece and in the air. Nothing bad, just not amazing.Ease of use & durability: It’s very easy to use. The tool feels light in the hand, and swapping batteries or sandpaper is quick. With a decent battery it keeps up fine, and after multiple projects it still runs like it did out of the box.Overall, I really like this as a portable sander and would happily recommend it if you’re already on the DEWALT 20V platform. It’s just not as fast as a strong corded orbital, so for me it’s a solid four‑star tool instead of a full five. Great cordless orbital sander. Lightweight, comfortable to use, and provides smooth sanding results with low vibration. Dust collection works well, and being tool only was perfect since I already had DEWALT batteries and chargers. Highly recommended.

Powerful, versatile and easy to handle. I love the speed control and ease of adjustment. Like all my Dewalt tools, I expect it to be a durable tool. The dust collector works remarkably well, too. Great value for the money!

This is actually my first random orbital sander. I have been doing woodworking for many many years but never got around to buying one. I do have a belt sander, detail sander and sheet sander which have been great to work with.After using this sander for a while now I can say I wished I had bought one earlier.I cannot believe the power that comes out of this cordless sander. Really surprised me. I find I get around 9-10 minutes per amp which is I find pretty good. I was also surprised that a 4 or 5amp battery doesn't put it off balance. Really stable.I never thought I would ever use the variable speed feature but now I like the feature. I really liked it while sanding paint off a veneer. Love it.The dust bag works quite well. Better than any other sander I presently have right now anyway.The main thing I like about the sander is "no cords!". Dewalt cordless tools are awesome. Love the cordless mitre saw tool.One negative about the sander is the size of the top. Built for guys with really big hands I would say. Not that bad but I tried out the Dewalt corded version and like the feel of that one much better.I'll see how goes for the next few months and if things change I'll come back here and let you know.
