Alan Unterman has collected an impressive array of Kabbalistic literature, divided them by topic, and provided a minimum of commentary in the footnotes. It is up to the reader to delve into the abstruse subject matter, with some help from the chapter headings.For someone who wants to get into reading primary sources of Kabbalistic literature, this is a fine introduction. For someone who has already read works in the topics of Jewish mysticism, Unterman's book is a good way to pull back and see the breadth of the subject anew.

This is a collection of short segments from a variety of Kabbalists. I thought it well curated and very interesting. An excellent introduction to a body of literature that is vast and daunting.

One of the best Kabbalistic Books I've ever read. It goes right to the SOUL of the subject and is very informative. A very good read for anyone who wants a better understanding of the Jewish mystic tradition.

Insiteful and reflective. I had very little knowledge on Jewish Mysticism ubtil reading this excellent text. Now I want to re read it and incorporate the ideolog into my every day life.

Sorry for possible English mistakes! This book is excellent for brief readings where one will be able to gain interesting insights into life and mystery. You can read book in one long reading (recommended before you dive deeply) or follow themes by topics, about angels, Tora, prayer, life and death, reincarnation, nature of God and humans...great inspiration can be found in this selection of text from this particular mystical and magical tradition.

A good selectiion to penetrate the maze of the kabbala. The introduction gives also valuable insight in order to understand a not easy topic .
