A must have for backyard pools
With small children in the house and a backyard pool, I knew we needed a pool alarm for safety. This seemed to be the highest rated and I liked that it would work with our frame pool also. It was easy to set up and test for sensitivity and works exactly as described. One thing we noticed however is if the pump is running and disturbing the surface of the water, or if there is much of a breeze blowing to cause rippling in the water, the alarm will go off a lot. We have found that during windy or inclement weather, we have to remove the alarm as it will continuously trigger false alarms. We also noticed that when our pool filter is freshly cleaned, the filter outlet causes enough rippling to set off the alarm which is kind of annoying. Aside from that, it's very well designed and reliable for going off if the water is disturbed at all. I think there's a bit of a learning curve and some tweaking that needs to be done with the sensitivity in order to get the best results but I love that it has the remote sensor for inside the house and that you are able to adjust the sensitivity.Everyone with a backyard pool, even a frame set or other soft sided pool, should have a pool alarm to protect those around the pool and any unexpected visitors. This is a great alarm, the price is reasonable, and it works as described. We are very happy with our purchase.

Best Blessing I Ever Purchased - Works GREAT - Low Ratings Don't READ to Adjust Sensitivity
I bought this but almost did not buy it because of a FEW reviews that it went off easy. I am VERY glad I went ahead and bought it as well as took the TIME to read the SIMPLE manual and adjust the sensitivity. This is a serious subject and not just a blender we are buying.I have a golden retriever puppy that loves to fall in so I can "save" him and our home is built all around a lovely pool. If he falls in the pool it WILL go off inside the home as well as the unit will go off. You have to turn it upside down to quiet it. And go in the house and turn the other alarm off. But in general it won't go off if your pool motor turns on or a gentle breeze goes by-unless maybe it is right near a vent. Serious wind, it may, because it works by the lip being tilted and touching water.Gently place it in the pool because I plopped it in and did not know water touching the rim will keep it in alert mode. I called the company and the person who answered was VERY sweet and already willing to take a return on it---I felt bad and just said I could not get it to stop sounding. She asked if water was on the blue rim, and I said yes. She said dry that off and gently place it back in. She even insisted her company will mention that in the next manual. So, the manufacturer does everything to make this work for us.My retriever is 30 pounds so I practiced tossing a 30 pound object [basically a 3 gallon object] in the pool from any angle, and yes, it created enough of a wave to set it off. So, this is second best to complete supervision. It does have to be tied fairly center in the pool and on each side...I bought two bricks that match the pool pavers to do that. It looks fine and chances are if he falls he will touch the thin ties anyway. Which is what I hope happens if he ever falls in, to really set the alarm off.Pool help I tell to just leave it on the side when they are done cleaning and I will reset it. But I do not cringe anymore if he left my sight for a minute and he is no answering to his name. I can rule the pool out, which is splendid.

Total Trash - Don't Buy
When it was working there were just too many false positives despite a lot of time spent trying different positions and trying to calibrate it.Then disaster struck, our pool cleaner decided it wanted to get all close and personal with the unit and dragged it under water. The unit was just full of water and despite drying it out it just no longer works. I took it apart and had thoughts of attempting my own repair (I have successfully repaired many electronic devices) but I just couldn't bring myself to waste a lot of time on something that was pretty useless anyway. The waterproofing on this device is just hopeless, it might shrug off a few minor dunks or splashes but is in no way "waterproof" as was demonstrated by my pool cleaner drowning it. This pretty much means that it WILL get destroyed at some point.I ended up using a Solar Driveway alarm as an additional safeguard by our pool. I have the sensor for this pointed across the main access to the pool such that anyone (will detect child or dog) that moves towards the pool will break the beam and sound the alarm in the house. Whilst it's no full pool alarm it's just an extra tool in trying to keep the kiddos safe. I unplug it when there are no children visiting.

Helpful addition
Purchased this for added safety. It works well, but sometimes seems to go off for no reason. Which is annoying. You definitely can’t ignore the noise it makes, so that is a good thing. Easy to use!

Too many false alarms - and always late at night, UGH
I needed a reliable pool alarm for my inground pool. I have an XL GSD that likes to hang out in the area all day long. I cant stay out there all day with him so what I bought had to work. I've owned this alarm approx 3 months. I've tested it so I know it works but for some reason the darn thing goes off in the middle of the night or super early morning hours. So I jump out of bed, go running outside to pool area and theres nothing in the pool or surrounding area. This has happened numerous times this summer. The air/water is calm, fresh batteries in the unit, its not raining outside - so what sets it off?! I did find a large cricket next to it one time, but surely that wouldnt do it. The instructions say 15lbs and up. Other then that, it seems to be a nice unit. So if your going to buy one of these, I highly suggest taking it OUT of the water for the night, otherwise, you'll be running out to your pool area at 2 and 3 AM to take it out. Your neighbors will thank you as well ;)
