Good but not great
Standard for all my reviews: When reviewing products, I always remain objective and honest about the product or service. I always review with information that I feel others would like to know about the product as I always assume what I'm writing will influence for or against the purchase. I always try to go above and beyond surface characteristics and input into quality, value and application. Most importantly, I will always end the review with an answer as to whether I'd purchase the product again which I believe is the most critical question pertaining to the item. To manufacturers: Want me to review your items, just let me know!Needed for a gas fireplace box that hasn't been resprayed in 15 years. After spending the last few years enjoying the fire and playing the game of "what do you see?" in the pattern of our eroding firebox paint, it was time to research and repaint. It's not something I have done before so I started from square one. After doing research, I went withthe Rust-Oleum based mostly on reviews and cost.I prepped the firebox by doing as good a job as I could on removing all surface debris, soot, paint, etc. to make for a good foundation. I masked off the painting area so as not to paint anything that didn't need it, spending a lot of time not to miss any spots. The removal of the soot and old paint is not a lot of fun and you will get dirty. But I was dedicated to having a good application surface.I used a good application distance and made sure to apply very light coats to all areas, allowing 15 minutes or so in between applications. Following application, I didn't use the fireplace for a couple of days. The end result looked really, really nice. It's now been a few months since application and I am seeing some degradation on the back wall of the firebox again. Not bad, but definitely there. I have also since lowered the flame as it was getting too hot. Not sure if the erosion is due to not doing a good enough job on the preparation, the fire being too hot or perhaps just bad coverage. That all said, I'm still really happy with the product and I would buy it again.I used about 2/3-3/4 of the can on the one fireplace.

What a difference! Used inside my house for fireplace and the fumes weren’t bad!
Use this on the inside of my gas fireplace to touch up the nicks that was caused during installation and cover the white haze that wouldn’t was it wipe off that was caused by use. It looks amazing now! Time will tell how well it holds up but so far (2 months of use) so good!

Works well
I used less than 2 cans on my wood stove. See photo. I only sprayed a few very thin coats because I was concerned it might restrict heat transfer to the room if I put on a thick coating (probably an unfounded concern). Anyway, if I sprayed a few more coats it would look more shiny and consistent overall, but this is good enough for me. I ran my stove for 4 days straight and a few more times, a day at a time, with no issues. Stove got extremely hot, and there is no change in the paint finish. Strong smell for the first day or so. Can't say how it will last long term, but no indication of any problems. I prepped by wire brushing all surfaces vigorously, then wiped down real good several times with mineral spirits to remove any particles, dust, and oil. I had no paint runs because I sprayed very light coats. Let dry for a minute and another very light coat. Then the next day did it again. No prep in between coats. I would recommend this product.

Worked great on my metal fire pit.
I used this for a metal fire pit my son welded in school. Covers up the metal great and after on fire, it seems to be holding up well.
